More chilled: Les Nubians - Princesses Nubians (im not a huge fan but you might like it)
It's not "beats" but if you like "rock'n'roll" and wanna learn some french argot (slang) then Renaud...his music is VERY french and full of slang; not for everyone. But he is a SUPERSTAR in France.
For some chilled rock/pop try Francis Cabrel.
