i just started freestyle last week and i can do regular boxslides aswell as hit a 360.

is this good for a girl?

also, what should i try next?

depends on your age. but yeah...the girls out there aren't amazing. Don't compare yourself to girls, compare yourself to guys your age and try to push yourself.

Well your def not up in the top of the womens field, but you are def off to a good start. Getting a 3 in your first week is sweet too. Keep working on 3's and get them solid and then you can start adding a grab. Also learn to ride switch really well, just do it a ton while you are skiing around, and that will get ready to hit jump and rails/boxes switch. Speakign of rails and boxes, learn to slide with your other foot forward and then switch, because learnign these skills early will help you when you try to learn spins and switchups. Just keep having fun and workin on stuff and you will continue to improve.

depends. i know an 11 yr old girl that slides boxes and 360's 15 foot tables. She 540 water ramps , ff and bf water ramps as well.

Work on your style learn 180 and 360 all 4 ways...then focus on grabs

yeah great advice, its always better to learn things when your starting so they both seem natural and you dont really have a lot stronger side. also learn to spin the other way.

Please keep it up and push womens skiing out of the incredible amount of terribleness it's currently experiencing. Sarah started to push it, but all the other girls just go for 2nd place whenever she's at an event now

Exactly, no offense but its really not that hard to be good compared to most girls, you really need to try to keep up with guys if you really wanna push it and become really good.

I think the boys might be misrepresenting the case a little: 3's and a box in your first week is very good. Sure theres 10 year olds who've done better but about 90% of riders were worse. You can brag from now until the end of the month: if you're not onto 7's and switch by then you have to stop. More importantly, don't measure you're progression against other girls progress. Skiing is more about reflexes, balance, and grace than brute strenght, there's no good reason why the girls should lag.

Just do work... Don't worry about if it's good for a girl. Enjoy what your doing and ride.

Best advice.

P.s. if your scared to throw a trick just sing while your doing it. Swear to god it works. lol

that is true and good advice.

however, against other girls you are good, i mean half of the girls at the us open only did 3s and regular grinds and they were pros coming n the top 10.

Conditions at US OPEN didn't really allow us to do much more. The speed was slow, the visability sucked. There were less injurys this year than ever before. I think that is progression in it's self. You can't base women's skiing off of this year's US OPEN event. Girls are doing Switch 7's , Loops, 9's and i'm going to dial my rodeo's this summer. Kim was doing sick 270's on. So before you attempt to make fun of women's skiing i suggest you strap on a pair of skis and head up to a resort and watch anna's loops, ash's switch 7's, or Kim's steeze on rails.

But men still did much more with the same conditions...
Anyways, besides that, I agree with what you're sayin there's def lots of girls that rip...but the US Open was pretty disappointing for women, the men figured out the conditions and dealt with it and still threw down

I agree. I was stoked on my Switch 1's and 3's. It's my first year freeride and first US OPEN. I agree the girls who have been in it a little longer probably could have pushed it a little more. But everyone still killed it.

i dont think thats progression at all, i call that being pussys (literally)

if you girls are landing tricks every time try some harder shit, no one likes getting hurt, but playing it safe is not progression

yea, thats probly better than i would have done there, but the girls whove been at it forever should have pushed it more

i dont get why girls have to compare themselfs to other girls. cant you say good for starting out or something. theres not much reason a girl cant be just as good at skiing as a guy.

meh, same reason girls arent as good as guys at every other sport...they just dont have the same strength, coordination, control of their bodies.
that being said, they should still not be sayin "good for a girl"

You may have never seen women's gymnastics, but they posses plenty of balance, control and strength. Some of the girls that take skiing seriously are doing all kinds of stuff I can only hope for. Our local freestyle team practices tuff, and slays it at comps. They have professional coaches and a ton of financial support. We have some of the best park riding in the country and I think this really helps. I don't think many of the girls have the fearlessness it takes to step it up like a guy,It's a lot in your head with skiing.
