hmmm, well first off, dont buy the kit lens, just get the body. Next pick up a nifty fifty (50mm 1.8) they are dirt cheap now, you can find em for like $60 in photog forums. Now i'm a bit hesitant on what to suggest for you to get in the WA area, as your budget is a bit constrictive. If you really like the fisheye look, go with the rokinon 8mm. It's an excellent lens. This leaves a gaping hole though, and i'm not sure what to suggest based on your budget. Many will say Tokina 17-50 2.8, which is a great lens for photo and video and will run you about 300-350. Or you might want a faster lens (one that lets in more light, so you can use it at night or low light situations) like a 30mm 1.4 prime. It's tough to decide for you, if you have friends with camera gear that you can play with, i would suggest that. see what you like!
