Good editing software

You should have posted this thread in media and arts, but I will answer your question anyway. If you have a mac use final cut pro, for P.C either sony vegas or adobe premiere cs4. The editor makes a good edit not the program.
 
As long as this was already posted in the wrong forum, which version of Vegas should a sub intermediate user need? The prob for me is that I have a Sony HD Camcorder. I have been editing using WMM which means I have had to convert all footage to .wmv's . Sony's software can only create DVD's from mpegs, and can't convert back from .wmv to mpeg2. Want to make sure that whatever version of Vegas I buy can do what WMM can, but also create DVD movies for burn. It would be great if I didn't have to go through the conversion process too, because that takes awhile. Would the basic Movie Studio HD work, or do I have to pick up something better?
 
You can try Movie studio HD 9 on the website for 30 days for free to see if you like/works for you. Havn't got my HD cam yet (In the mail) but when i do im gonna try it cause i dont think vegas 7 will work with HD
 
if you thought wmm was bad wait untill you see what they did with it for windows 7, it will make older versions of wmm look like fcp, besides that i love fcp ive been using that for a while i recently started using vegas 7 and it sucks not that intutive has taken me hours to get the basic hang of it, i would love to get cs4 but cant find any torrents and key gens thatswork for it,

alright I am not sure why everyone is on Sony Vegas's nuts...but IT IS NOT WHAT YOU WANT. I HAVE NEVER USED IT, BUT I KNOW WITHOUT EVEN LOOKING AT IT, IT IS JUNK
PLEASEUSE ADOBE PREMIER PRO CS3 or CS4....PLEASE FOR THE LOVE OF EDITING.
 
If you've never used it how would you know it's "junk"? Some people don't like it cause they don't know how to use it. I edit with it and like it alot. Havn't tried CS3 or CS4 yet but im going to.
 
yes they are. JUST USE ADOBE PREMIER PRO. AND DONT COMPLAIN ABOUT NOT FINDING TORRENTS. THERE ARE PLENTY
 
Thx. 10/10. Looks like it's going to be between Vegas HD 9 or PE 8. Vegas doesn't include software to burn dvd's, but Sony Picture Motion Browser that came with my cam does. My concern from previous issues with Sony is that the two softwares may not work together even though they are both made by the same company.
 
Do you really have to convert your clips to .wmv's for them to work in WMM? cuz mine are mpegs and it won't "publish" my movie in the HD qualtiy it was filmed in.
 
I use Sony Vegas for my Sony HD Cam. Premier is good but I don't really care for it. I just use After Effects and transport it into Vegas.
