Hey NS looking for summer jobs / internships

--currently a Business Student

-- Was going to Intern with Northwest Mutual, until i caught on to the exploitation

threads for good work experiences and help

haha northwestern mutual is the biggest joke in the world...

and OP...you fucked up man. Its WAYYYY to late for any "good" or "easy" internship most companies have had interns lined up since january/february/march. I had my offer at the end of february.

work connections talk to your family friends and what not. AT this point your way to late to the game and you gotta get real lucky with something.

Yeah i put way too much effort into NWM

NWM wanted me to do 20 market research surveys that were like 40 minute long interview

Plus compile an excel datasheet of 100 people i knew

that's why its April

I went to that interview in nyc when I was a freshman. I was like ok I can fuck around and try to sell insurance for a summer for some sale expereience...then they were like BUT we only pay you 100 a week. SEE YA

this. You don't just walk into a coffee making internship at a respectable company. You need to know someone. Also, a lot of

internships aren't even paid.

I dont care about non paid internships

NWM ----

makes you pay for business meals and expenses

OUT OF POCKET to pay for clients meals 2-3 a day

how are you not seeing the scam? Your an intern and they make you pay out of your own pocket for meals and expenses. If you had a serious client lined up, they would atleast cover the gas or something. If its your only option its better than nothing. If you have any other options take them. Financial represnetative at NWM doesn't even get licensed with a series 7.

Cold call private wealth managmeent offices around your area like ML ,MS. etc...they usually can do soemthing atleast part time.

If you want to go into finance and sales or something like that, NWM doesn't look good at all on a resume

It's late man so you should be looking really hard. Look into private wealth management, I think there's a lot of opportunities there, they even hire kids after freshman and sophomore year.

Also you should ask your family and friends, a lot of people find jobs that way.

And there's on-campus recruiting and your school's career center except idk how much is still going on with that.

Since it's an internship, probably your first one, you just need to find some sort of office work especially if you're not a junior.

I would stay away from sales, that sounds horrible.

Worst comes to worst you can sell Veema,

Dude its wayyyyy too late. Try and get a respectable job lined up for the next year as a manager or supervisor of someplace decent or at least somewhat challenging in the job force. Then apply next year.

If you include in the application that you took a year off to try and earn back some money / pay off some loans so you can go into an internship, then that will look a ton better than a nicer version of "Hey, so yeah, i'm scrambling last minute to find something so you guys looked good!"

Just saying man. It might be too late. If you still wanna try though, go to your school resources and counseling center. I'm sure they have the resources to try and finagle something together better than the typical college kid can at this point.

Good Luck though. Hope you make the decision that's best for you.
