Good DSLR MIC??

Hi Everyone,

I have a canon 60d, and am looking for a good microphone to go with it. The Opteka VM-200 and Rode Videomic Pro both come to mind. I am also looking to get a glidecam, and was thinking that the rode would be better for that since it is lighter, but would it be doable to have a very heavy mic on a dslr and put that on a glidecam and still be able to balance out the weight?

Also, any other suggestions of mics? I am looking to make ski edits (obviously haha) as well as digital shorts and possibly documentaries/ other films.

Any input would be most helpful, thanks!

You either get a mic from a company that is known for making knock-offs of existing products or a mic from a company that is know for putting out solid products with a good reputation.

Just get the RØDE.

I've got a Rode Videomic Pro on my T2i and it balances just fine on my Glidecam (HD 2000). I'd go with the Rode, the sound quality is worth it. It kinda looks ridiculous on the cam at times, but whatever, it works.
