ok so this past season i got a canon zr 65, its a decent camera for its price i guess, but i had a lot of troubles with it too though, it was very picky in weather and also had a bunch of tape troubles. but wtih these problems i managed i get a bunch of decent shots and were making a pretty good local mountain movie with that footage this year, now i was planning on going around a lot more this upcoming year and traveling to place and filming a lot more shit, so im basically asking all the good tech guys out there to suggest a GOOD camera that is defiantely quality, i dont think that i could afford like a canon xl 1 or something like that, but i want a damn good camera...any suggestions ?

used vx1000? if you cant afford a new xl2 or vx2000, get a used one. the vx1000's are sold for around 1000, and its a great cam.

I have the canon zr45 and am sooooo mad that you need a stupid canon-compatible firewire cable that you have to special order.

skiergirl i have question for you--when you try to capture from your camcorder onto the comp does it drop tons of frames and kind of skip? cause i have a canon zr30 and it does that to me.......

Yeah the ZR series kinda sucks for capturing because it takes so long to get the tapes going and switch between pause/play/ff/rew. Other then that I like the camera. And SKiergirl its not a canon specific cable you need...my ZR uses the exact same cable as my friends sony.

get the vx1000, its 3 ccd chip is better than that canon which i think has a 1/4 ccd.

i dont know enough to answer that question. i would say that if you are really serious about filming, and have the extra money, then it would be a good idea to get a gl2. if not, you wont be disappointed with a vx1000.
