so i am wanting to get into photography and i am looking at the canon 20d is 400$ for just the body a good deal? cause i already have the 2 crappy kit lenses. im not sure how many aucutations it has but i will find out
depends what you shoot. but I would suggest never to go "cheap" when it comes to lenses. You really do get what you pay for. A couple ideal lenses to have are a 70-200mm 2.8, a good wide angle if your shooting urban skiing and what not, I enjoy my 16-35mm 2.8, and something like a 50mm prime lens in a 1.4 which is great for night and urban etc..., (no need for zoom in this focal length IMO, your feet can do the work). You wont regret spending a little extra dough on lenses if you're really into it or plan on getting more so into it. Stick with the big brands like Canon, avoid stuff like sigma if you can afford to do so.
i'd also make sure the sensor is not damaged...before you buy it...but i agree with whats said..don't take your lens lightly...and having the 1.4 it is dope for low lighting situations...that 18-35 sounds dope...but i think im going super wide for my next glass
I did a little research and I'm assuming your meaning the number of times someone clicked the button essentialy. You can actualy look up what the expected life of a camera is, its provided somewhere deep in some reading, not sure what it is with the 20D specificly, but if you can tell me how old the camera is, and who the person is that owned it, i might be able to answer your question (ie, were they a pro photographer shooting every day, or your buddy who used it for photo class)
yah i've had my XT for 2 years now and im at about 35,000 but i shoot pretty often and there was a good chunk of the year that i shot every day...so it adds up...that being said i've used other cam a lot so my clicks are probably 50 000 in the two years.....mhmmm love them spped bursts
the 20D is a good starter DSLR , but digital photography is evolving so quickly that you might want to think about something more like a 30D or 40D, those are good prosumer cameras that are a little more expencive but are more recently devloped and they will retain value and capability much like the 20D has since it was released almost 4 years ago. you can get a used 30D in great shape for like 520 or so, and a 40D for like 700... but try and budget yourself with the camera body, your money is much better spent on glass... think L series...
you might want to think about a rebel they are terrific for the money but they shoot very slowly 3.5fps on the most expencive model and if you using the camera for skiing you are going to want 5fps or more (the 40D will shoot 6.5 which is perfect). but anyways you can get yourself a rebel XT which is essentially the 20D just shoots 2 less frames per second with the 18-55mm lense (which is a great starter close angle lense) for like 500 bones, then get a 70-200mm f4.0 USM L for another 550ish and you have yourself a slammin set up for probably like 1100 bones.
check out www.bhphotovideo.com they have everything you could ever want for photography
its hard to find a $700 used 40d...but they are out there
and are you pricing in UK or something the 70-200mm f4.0 USM L used is like $1000...i think i might be picking up this piece of glass
bhp is the place to go for reviews though, check it out....
^^for wide angle check out the sigma i think its like 12-24 or something, a buddy of mine has it and its a great cheaper alternative to the Canon wide angle
the 70-200mm USM L is $600 brand spankin new for the US model, it just doesn't have the immage stabilization and it's f4.0, which sucks but i've shot a ton of pictures with this lense and it still kills it, but immage stabilization is second to none and worth every penny but in most cases anyone reading this does not have those pennys.
yeah IS is clutch i might be thinking about that same one but it would be really nice to have the f2.8 for night shooting but it's another 600 bones, for night shooting urban shit the 50mm f1.2 USM L is second to none but it's like 1400 or 1600 photography is insanely expencive
word it is...i think i might be able to pick up the IS version of that 70-200 lens, for $1000 from my buddy...its used but still in super condish...i've used it before and its so dope....should i go for it...
start of claim> i get to shoot a north carolina b-ball game
you will blend right in with those courtside newspaper photographers only their camera will be worth as much as a year at the college they are shooting at. but otherwise 1000 is a good deal as long as it isn't the imported model.
