well macs are pretty much grade A shit because they handle hd real ease and can use the final cut software. i personally like sony vegas ... so im rocking with a Gateway fx series gamers laptop - 2008 model i think - and am loving it.

I'm running on a simple eMachines with 3GBs of ram, with a dual core processor, and a decent graphics card. (512MB) - It edits HD footage just fine, not great, but good. I have a 28 inch 1080P screen hooked up to it and it kicks it..

The whole setup was less than $600.

i had an HV20 with a PC and it really sucsk cause you can't really do much with HD. I got a macbook pro with final cut 2 and problem solved.

don't just get a mac. make an educated decision, like i didn't when i bought a macbook. i'm still trying to figure out how to figure out editing with out my computer slowing down to a crawl. managing almost 8k songs sucks.

im more of the kid that is looking to throw some edits out thou. not throw like a legit movie togeather. or at least not yet. so i want something that will handle the hd but i dont wanna just buy mac because of the name. is it the best computer to handle editing?

Get an iMac or Mac Book. They're pricey, but it's sooo worth it. Im getting one soon, but i used them all the time at school for my video classes.
