Good colleges near ski resorts?

I'm a junior in high school so I have to start looking for colleges. I get A's and I'm looking at mountain colleges like University of Colorado or something with decently high standards. I'm not looking for an intense school like Stanford or anything but I'm just wondering what might be a good school to look at. I haven't done too much research yet I just am wondering what advice NS might have.

I could be helpful and give you a whole long list of the best ski schools in the country, or I could be an asshole and tell you to use the searchbar or google to find the answer. I choose the latter.

UVM for East Coast

U of U

CU Boulder

Colorado School of Mines, if interested in engineering and no girls

Victoria University, NZ for NZ

I went to UVM for undergrad and Colorado School of Mines for graduate school. Both were solid choices.

Good east coast NESCAC schools. Middlebury, Dartmouth, Bowdoin, Bates, Colby. All about an hour from a really good east coast resort.

I'm a senior in high school and I'm facing the same thing, so far I've been accepted to UC-Boulder and gotten a few academic scholarships. I don't know what kind of student you are, but I took a lot of IB classes(its like AP) and ended up with a 4.0 (weighted, so pretty decent amount of b's). I got a 2180 on my SAT, and all this made it pretty easy to get some scholarships for boulder. If you're worried about money and are a good student, theres lots of opportunites there. Also, I visited the campus last summer, and it's the bomb. Its got a smaller town feel with plenty to do, and a little over 20,000 students. But yeah, like others have said, CU-Boulder, CSU, and U of Utah are all good options. Colorado school of mines is an excellent engineering school, although small.

I go to Colorado school of mines and i will admit that it is a hard school and there are very few girls but 90% of graduates get jobs so it pays off. also i have gotten 31 days on snow so far, not to mention there are some sick rails on campus check my pics for shots of them

I went to CU. I loved it and would highly recommend it. Another option option that people always forget about is UBC in Vancouver.

Ill second this, if you're looking at going to a good, small school close to skiing, there's nothing better than NESCACs. I'm currently at Bates, about an hour from Sunday River, hour and a half from Sugarloaf, 10 min from Lost Valley (small place with night skiing and a decent park, free passes for students.) If you want more backcountry stuff, we're about an hour and a half from North Conway (Washington, Tuckermans's and the like) and four hours from Baxter (Katahdin).

Let me know if you have any questions about any of the whole college thing. The process can get pretty hectic. Best of luck.

Cu Boulder, Colorado State, U of Utah, Westminster Utah, Fort Lewis Colorado, Colorado Mountain College (kinda a joke but people i know there like it)

Okay, skiing shouldn't be the priority, the eductation is. With that being said keep in mind prices as well for college. For me I looked at CU boulder, Colorado State at Fort Collins, Montana State, and University of Vermont, St Michael's College. Those are all good schools. The schools in Burlington Vermont are all good except for in my opinion Champlain which seems to be a dumb dumb school and has a weird program that probably won't transfer well should you decide to switch to a better school for academics.

depends on your opinion of "good school." i wouldnt count many of the schools listed in this thread as goood tbh

Sierra Nevada College is sick if you wanna go to a really small school with 10 mountains from 5-40 minutes away. If you get the vail pass you can ride kirkwood, heavenly and northstar. If you get the squaw pass you get to ride squaw, alpine, and sierra at Tahoe. And Boreals pass is 100$ for the season. If you wanna live in a small mt town thats all about skiing then go their.

I'm from Colorado, and don't get me wrong, we have some dope schools there, but to put this in perspective, Eldora is 45 minutes away from CU Boulder and that's the closest ski resort. If you wanna go somewhere better, it's gonna be more like an hour and a half commute. Same with Western Washington. Bozeman Montana and Missuola are the same deal, although they may be a bit closer. That's why I'm going to University of Utah. The mountain is like half an hour away and they have an awesome medical program. Plus there are buses which will take you to the mountain that are free for U of U students, unlike Colorado. So much love to Colorado, but U of U is a much better ski bum college, unless you want to go to Colorado Mountain College. And never see a girl again.

I go to Colorado college, not very close to te mountians but there is a regular bus on the weekend that goes up. I've gotten like 35 days in this season and a basin is open till June. Colorado college is also an amazing school.

I am currently attending the University of Colorado. Go here if you want to be harassed by asshole cops with nothing better to do than fuck with drunk college kids. The skiing is not bad, but I am from the mountains so it's kind of a pain to drive 2 hours just for the skiing. But Boulder is an awesome place. Get a medical marijuana card so that you can petition to move off campus. Living on campus guarantees interactions with people who want nothing more than to write you up.

Check out Colorado School of Mines. They give almost every out of state kid a scholarship. I'm from Cali and it's cheaper than a UC with the scholarship. Also the application take like 15 min, and it's free so you dont have a reason not to apply.

Check out UC davis. Its a good school plus tahoe is only two hours away and they have a huge ski and snowboard club so you can always mooch a ride off of someone.

USC is a very elite school and only 2 hours from Bear and 4 from Mammoth, would be weekend trips, but USC's education surpasses pretty much all of these^

Dartmouth is a stretch for me, I don't know about you, but it would be my dream school. Ivy League, close to skiing, East Coast, Boston, etc.

University of Denver. A Basin is just over an hour on a good day plus you have 5 places (A Basin, Keystone, Breckenridge, Vail and Beaver Creek) on 1 pass (Epic Pass) within 2 hours. And like 7 resorts within 2 hours. Plus DU is a pretty solid academically

anywhere in Burlington if youre looking for the east coast. Best skiing in vermont is not far, plus burlington is fucking awesome

Appalachian State University (boone, nc)

Lol people are suggesting Utah, Montana Vermont and Colorado thenman you get this. I've heard Mississppi State is a good ski school

UM Duluth. Spirit mountain 8 minutes out, urban Mecca, lake effect snow, Bohemia is 4 hours out for the best snow in the country. It's the smaller things that count.

This is spot on. People don't realize how far Boulder is from decent skiing.

CSU is much farther from ski resorts, although there are plenty of good turns to be earned near Fort Collins.

Mines and ft. Lewis are significantly closer to skiing, as well as cmc breck/steamboat/gunnison.
