i'm really attratced to california for college. It looks like an awesome place, it's a good distance from home, there are some great schools, and sick skiing. I have good grades and want to go to a good school (probably something for business but im not quite sure). So my question to you californians, what are some good schools in cali that are close (or relatively close) to good skiing?

sparknotes: what are good colleges near good skiing?

Thanks

UC Davis is probably the best school in that range for Tahoe.

I don't know socal skiing in relation to LA but someone else in here might.

University California Irvine is 2 hours from Big Bear, 1 1/2 from Mountain High.
University of California Riverside is 45 minutes away from Big Bear, 30 from Mountain High.
USC is about 2 hours away from Bear, 1 1/2 from Mountain High.
UCLA same as USC.
USCD, SDSU and the other San Diego schools are about 2 1/2 hours from Bear, about 2 1/2 from Mountin High.

(hint - forget socal schools. good snow years are hit and miss, and you end up going to mammoth anyway - tahoe's a better bet - plus you dont have to live in LA..)

i'm coming from norcal and going to UNR this fall and couldnt be happier with the choice i made, (btw i'm business major too)

plus cal poly pamona which is like 45 to an hour to mountain high and if you go to UC santa barbara its like 2 1/2 hours to mountain high and 6 hours from mammoth but with that you also get beach plus mountain options

If you can afford it and get in, USC then join their ski team club. I mean they only ski mammoth every weekend.

I went to Cal Poly Pomona and skied a lot while in college. I would take afternoon classes and ski Mt high in the morning then go to school. I would not consider the skiing good near it but if you like park both big bear and mt high have good parks. Mammoth is a good weekend trip and is awesome The ridge runners is the ski and snowboard club on campus and they have the "big trip" every December where they go on a trip with cal poly slo's ski club. the trips are insane. other then that most people are not that good but you meet a lot of people and they have fun parties.

Definitely look at the Claremont Colleges. Pomona College and Claremont McKenna have great economics programs that will set you up for a MBA and a career in business.
For skiing, it's only about 25 minutes to Baldy (by FAR the best in SoCal) and Mammoth is only 4.5 hours. I got 60 days this winter while at Pomona. Only 5 of those were at Baldy and none were over winter break, so I managed to get 55 Mammoth days without a car or a place to stay.
Go to the best school possible that's at least within driving distance of skiing, and if you're really dedicated, you'll find a way to ski plenty.

He said good colleges. Cera Coso is a joke. If you want to live in mammoth and take online classes then it gets the job done but it is not a good college.

i looked at reno last year when i was applying... i am ending up in Boise, its going to be sick, there are a few great resorts within a couple hours and some serious epicness in the same distance it takes to get to mammoth from so cal.

I'm in the same situation thinkin bout grad school and maybe a semester at a different college during undergrad. How far away is stanford from good skiing?

about 3 hours to tahoe, maybe more depending on traffic.

with that said, if you get into stanford, fucking go.

Stanfurd is Infinitely far.

Go to UC Davis if you want super high quality education, coupled with an easy trek to the mountains.

UC Davis is 2 hours to Tahoe.

Whereas Stanfurd, with how shitty bay area traffic can be? could take upwards 4-5 hours especially if any snow is on the ground.
