Good books...

THE PROVING GROUND-a book about the 1997 sydney-hobart ocean race in which a bunch of boats got wrecked

1984

krakatoa- about the eruption of a volcano in indonesia which blocked out the sun in some parts of the world for a whole year

it is really good, but you might want to start with one of the other books, i think it refers back to those and it is all about the same character's life

i dont think you understood the HUGE meaning behind that book. It's about the systems we make our people live in, you know how everyone thought that books were meant for burning because that's what they were told. Just like today we are basically told that black people rob stores and smoke crack, all arabs are terrorists, weed is addictive and dangerous, but alcohol is fine, strippers and nude shows are alright, gays are evil, george bush is honest, bullshit like that.

very true. i loved Breakfast of Champions and Hocus Pocus, and i'm reading Slaughterhouse Five. i asked for Man Without a Country for christmas.

Fortress of Solitude by Jonathan Lethem is also an amazing book

city of the beasts is pretty good, and yah the two dan brown ones davinci code and angels and deamons were good but then when i read deception point it was so predictable

into the wild freakin owned...so many good quotes in it...best book i ever read.

Peter jenkins has some good stuff if u liked into the wild...but its not as good...its about a guy walking across the country...its actually 2 books. all non fiction.

I'm reading some James Joyce stuff now...he's good.

I´ve just finished reading the Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy Trilogy (its actually 5 books) they were the funniest, most far out books I´ve ever read. They make u think a little bit about the whole meaning of it all, but are mostly just a good read. I´m surprised nobody has recommended them yet.

I just started reading that book and its crazy.. The dentist scene is ridiculous.

I'd recommend the Enders Game series by Orson Scott Card. I read them years ago but they were a lot of fun.

5 People is a really good book! So is Tuesdays with Maury.

Under the banner of heaven is definitely a trip. I'm about a third of the way done and I hope to put a big dent in it today.

If there are any Mormans on this site I'd love to talk to you aobut some of the questions this book is bringing up. PM me if you get a chance.
