Good bindings

I've been using Rossignol bindings and they keep breaking. I will be changing bindings soon and i wanted to know what would be a good choice.

Are bottles (like scratch bindings) a good option or should i go for a standard binding (like Salomon).

For mainly park riding and some all-around the mountain, would it be a good idea to invest in a pair of ski-blade binding (like the Line's)?

I have FKS 120 rossignol bindings and they totally suck for freestyle because they keep unbinding when you start spinning. Having a technology designed for racing, they do not perform so much in freestyle. Also, it's expensive to get larger stoppers to fit freestyle skis. Is it a good investment to pay for more expensive bindings or just take a pair of look (bottle) and keep repairing/replacing them.

everyone has their own opinions on bindings. personally i think i you drop the money on a high performance bindings, basically a race binding, it will last. when you get your bindings just make sure that the breaks are nicely over the ski so landing switch it desn't catch. other then that a race binding with dins beginning at 8 or 10 should hold you in over just about any thing. ive had a few problems with the breaks on my salomons 9 14s, but the same bindings FIS edition (the race version) has been bomb proof for me. so basically buy any almost full metal binding and you'll be fine, itll be a little heavier but suck it up.

On my FKS, one of the stopper kept catching when i landed switch and half of it eventually ripped off. Thats one problem. But what pisses me off the most is when I try to torque a bigger spin (i spin to the left), my right ski keeps unclipping, no matter how high the din is on it. Maybe that's due to the age of my bindings though (they are 4 yrs old). However, I'm considering non-pivot bindings for next winter because i've figured out that the pivot tend to break a lot more than some solid regular bindings.

uh.... you most have had some dumbass mount your skis, or your settings, such as forward pressure and din, are out of whack (which could be due to shit mount) because FKS bindings are practically the best bindings (in my opinion) for park skiing.

Yea I guess i'll just have them re-installed next winter with new stoppers, cuz even though they seem to be pretty solid, they do tend to break

are your boots super worn down? i have had look pivot 18 bindings for 5 years now and have never had a problem with them pre releasing

with your problems with spinning i guess its because of your boots, i had the same problem with my boots they were just too old and the sole was worn out

I always get salomon simply because I get their proforms..but they fucking suck I break so many little things on them(screw snap etc)

DONT BUY SALOMON

yeah thats true. the 12s are good but the 16s are that much beefier. they have a 30 degree pull-back on the toe which means on the 12 you would come out of the binding a lot easier. i use 16s on my jp's for pow cos i don't wanna be losing a ski after a drop but i wouldn't use mine in the park as the possibility of tweaking a knee is definitely higher. if mainly park i'd get the 12.

take a picture of the heel piece when your foot is in the binding looking foward and down then we can see if its a foward preesure problem

What i meant when i said that they drop when i torque a bigger spin is that the bottle stays clipped but my heel manages to get out by the side and the fix just makes a quarter of a rotation and i end up spinning with 1 ski... My boots are still shiny white salomon's. I think the binding has just been poorly adjusted to my ski... I'll have them replaced as soon as possible. If i find motivation to actually take pictures of fix/ski/boot, I'll put them on the forum. lol. When I said that i'll have my stopper replaced, it's because it broke, not because my boot gets out of the binding too easily.

Dins in the front and the back are at 10 and I weigh about 170 so i think it's pretty high but that's as high as i wanna risk it.

I have no clue

I have the 16's so so so so good

I hvae a pair of S912 on my prophets, i was skiing switch last year quite fast, caught an edge and cracked up the heel plate on them

but the 16's are more burly than the 12s

I REALLY wouldn't go for Salomon, because the brakes on my s810s break literally twice a month, I've had to have the heelplate replaced twice and now it is cracked again, they are all cracked around the screw holes and the toepiece is constantly loosening up. My brother had z10s and teh exact same things happened, except the toepiece didn't loosen up as much because tehy didn't have the driver toe, plus he just broke the heelpiece off one. He just got a pair of Look P12s to replace them and tehy seem pretty good so far, a lot more solid than the Sallys, but a bit heavier. I ahve also heard good things about Head (tyrolia) Mojo bindings, but I've never experienced them.

if you dig your edge in ever so slightly when spinning, it creates a shit ton of torque. I used to have the problem of releasing due to torque from setting a spin (especially going on to rails and in the pipe), but I never had that problem when I used FKS style bindings (p18s to be exact), simply becuase there is a lot of forward pressure and more room for a higher DIN.

I'm about 175 lbs, but to prevent preleasing just from some takeoffs, I have to be on 14. Then again, my forward pressure is fine and such.

If the bindings are "poorly adjusted to" your ski, then you might want to rememdy that, not necessarily the bindings. And you may need to increase the din a bit. Go for salomon, then see what kind of hell you'll be in.

Has anyone had any issues with the fks 155 toe piece causing harm to your legs? I have a mint pair of 155s if I want them but I am hesitant to put them on park skis. I am riding fks 120 now.

the marker comp 14 or 20 are bomber bindings. There is a reason the Pep and Andy both rocked them before the Jester came out. I love my Jesters.

well said, same shit happened to me, go for look/dynastar or rossi's bottle-styles soooo solid

lol your forward pressure is lose. There's two screws on the heel at the ends of the arms. Those need to be tightened. Should be good as new after that. Trust me you have the best binding available. Yes the breaks are a pain to replace but you just need to bend em properly. The whole race technology is a bullshit line. If they weren't the best every freelance pro would not be riding them.
