Good Beginner's Beatmaking Software

Alright, so I posted this in the beatmaking cult, but I guess no one checks there anymore; I also searched the forum to no avail and only threads about mac programs.

I'm interested in making some house/electronic/techno/dubstep but have

never done it before. What programs would you recommend to try out or

use for doing this. I downloaded the demo of Fruity Loops and tried to

make some thing but couldn't really, seems like a crazy learning curve.

Any videos/sites you would recommend to help me start off in my

beatmaking?

fl studio is one of the easier to pick up DAW's out there. My setup for producing dubstep is Ableton for synths with FL rewired into ableton as an audio track for drums.

Keep in mind that if you want your beats to sound good you'll have to spend alot of time learning the basics first before you start getting exactly what you hear in your head down.

good luck!

Thanks for the reply. My roommate has Fruity Loops, so he could probably help me. Yeah, I don't think I'll be making really cool things for a while, but it just takes practice and getting used to it. Any sites you can recommend for learning techniques?

tom cosm has some mad helpful vids and is an illiden producer

check his site here:

also just troll youtube for random tutorial vids or tip videos also. Watching videos of producers doing their thing and explaining shit is really helpful too cuz it gives you great insight into their mindset and workflow to help you get to it.

Them most effective way to know your program inside and out though is just to learn all its quirks overtime the more you use it

cheers!
