Good Backcountry pack

Hey, I'm looking for a good, relatively cheap backpack that will hold skis, shovel, water, food, some camera equipment and all necessary backcountry items, and boots sometimes too. Any suggestions?

the dakine heli packs have a hard time holding fat skis, especially if they are full, you can do it but it is a hassl. look for something that can do X, A or flat up the back carry.
 
i fit hellbents in mine fine, but yes it was a little harder to get them in there, the one problem i have with the ones that make an A or go flat up with the back is your tails hit your heels alot, but thats just preference

what kind of camera equiptment are you carrying, a small point and shoot a dlsr, 3 chip? if its a bigger camer get the dakine sequence or the other one, i was dumb and figured i would ride with 2 backs....what a dumb move im going to throw down and get an expensive pack that can carry all of my shit
 
i have the sequence and its super duper! lol

but yeah it is kinda heft with the camera block in there but it has all the featurs you want
 
Agreed - The pack is dope but I have a hard time strapping my Prophet 130s onto it. The loop at the bottom is fine but the top strap is just slightly too short - it works but it is a struggle, especially with cold hands. I am thinking of trying to replace it - just a fraction of an inch more would fix the problem.
 
yea the cover 22L is $100 shipped direct from BD but it's a sick pack, i'm gonna pick one up when i get some more cash
 
yeah, not a whole lot of camera stuff, a point and shoot for sure, and probably a SLR Film or digital too, but not too many extra lenses or anything.
 
thanks for all the advice, Dakine heli or sequence is looking good, as well as BD. I'll have to check those out. Does anyone have anything to say about The North Face? I know they are kind of expensive though...
 
I've had a Dakine Heli Pack for about a year now. Opt for the larger size they are making now. Mine is awesome, but doesn't have much space inside, but it's a real solid daypack for hiking.
 
I have had a Heli Pro pack for the last 5 years and it has been through a lot. I think I paid around 80 on sale at EMS. Check them out they are constructed great, and they seems to work with most skis.
 
i have the mountain equipment co-op jetpack i like straps coulb be thicker its little bit of a smaller bag cost be 70 bucks cad i was detween that one and the BD which my friend has he loves it both good bags
 
The Oakley one is only $85 bucks, cheap. Plus it will carry your skis, you can put a water bladder into it. Tons of room inside. Nice support straps. WIll carry shovel even a walkie
 
dakine heli pro. not too bulky, hydration compatible, holds shovel, alota pockets & carries your skis (diagonally). it's true what someone said up there, you might need an x ski carry pack in case your gonna be using fat skis.
 
No one has mentioned the Camelbak Hellion pack, its redesigned for this season and it is just about the best, most functional pack I've ever bought. It has more features than a heli-pro, the same or more than the pro-2 and it comes with a bladder.
 
I have one of these, lightly used, if you are interested. I'd keep the avalung hose, so you'd have to order a fresh one.
 
I love th ogio skate bags, i didn't know taht made stuff for skiing too, they are pretty expensive though.
 
I ahve a camelbak hydrapak for biking, and it's great relly good durablity, but how much does the hellion cost?
