Good All Terrain Skis on Groomers.....

I am currently skiing on Line Invaders which are 83 underfoot. I ski 75% on groomers and the rest in the park. I was wondering if the Line Prophet 90s would be too fat for groomers.

Invaders are like jib-only. Prophets are a solid ski. If you want something a little more forgiving with the same sidecut try the blends.

What I really need to know is a 90 waist too wide for groomers and will they act any different than an 83 waist?

Well, if you know how to ski I think a 90 waist on groomers would be no problem. Prophets are supposed to be a great ski also.

ya...invaders arent really meant to be a groomer/all mountain ski. I have 08 invaders, and i cant stand them out of the park because as soon as i get some speed they just turn into noodles and they get mad hard to control...i def. think that the prophets are a solid line of skis for all conditions though. Theyr stiff, and really solid. The 90 is ill off of jumps and in the bc and on groomed runs.

no, prophets are not too wide. think about it, you are talking about a difference of like 7 mm to 1 cm...go find a ruler in your house and see how small of a difference it is. if you are a good skier you should be able to ski your invaders fine, but if you do want to get prophets then go for it, they are amazing all mountain and on goomers and yes, in the park..

nothing is 'too fat' for groomers IMO, then again I personally like a fatter ski on the groom. What I find however to be a better measure of a ski's performance on hardpack are stiffness and sidecut radius. The tighter the radius the easier it is on groomers. E.g. the Line Elizabeth, though it's fat, has a super tight sidecut, and I've found on mine I can make super quick edge to edge turns on them not far removed from what I can do on my slalom skis because of this.

My favorite pair of skis for groomers has a 97mm waist, so width isn't massively detrimental--although it will affect edge to edge time. Look for something torsionally stiff, relatively damp, and with a turn radius that suits the way you like to ski (ie, straighter if you like to point 'em, tighter if you want to carve).

they are a little soft at super high speeds in chop though
