what do you guys think of this one???? worth it ????

250 is pretty much the max i can go because i only do little bike and ski edits for fun. it is only a passion so it does not worth 500 or 600$ to my eyes.

if you have suggestion, link it please!!

thanks alot

Sorry I must have been typing mine when you posted that. It will only be ok though. Don't expect it to be great. Also all you are shooting with is a t3i and battery grip right?

yes and i ordered a glideshot jib 4' (3.4Kg i think). supporting the glideshot is my man concern right now !

You could hit up craigslist for a pair of legs and then get that head or buy used off ebay.

the monfrotto 701 head is awesome for the price ($150). The 190 legs kinda suck in my opinion, when panning it sometimes doesn't grip well enough and you get this real ugly chattery motion in your shots.

I just got Manfrotto 055 legs and I used them once and I think they're pretty good, got them for 150 so. Has anyone else used these legs to say whether they suck or not? So far my only complaint is they're a little heavy, compared to say carbon fiber ones.

In regards to the chattery motion you're talking about; make sure you've got the head on properly. The 190 legs have little screws that you need to tighten up into the notches in the base of the head (in my 501 at least, I'd assume it's similar for the 701) so that it locks in securely. I found this out once when I was swapping my head around between legs a bunch and forgot to tighten it down.

And in regards to the question about the 701/190 combo being able to support a jib, I'm skeptical. Even a 4' jib is going to put a bit of stress on the tripod and the 190 legs aren't exactly the beefiest things you'll encounter. If you do do it I'd reccomend only using the first stage of the tripod and weighing it down with sandbags or a heavy backpack. Overall I'm not too sure about that setup with a jib. But hey, it may work?

just FYI, if you are looking at the 701 head, the 501 is only $10 more so you should get that. also, if i were you I'd get a 501 and an old bogen/manfrotto set of legs. i just got some 3020's for $80 shipped on ebay, which are the equivalent of the 055 series now, but a little burlier

Made the plunge after Slandypoo's thread about the 'knock-offs'?

Maybe you could write a little review or what not. I reckon a lot of people will be interested in it!

Pardon my ignorance, but $700 for a tripod? Even $200? Explain to me because I don't understand. What does a $700 tripod do that a $100 won't? I'm guessing it has to do with how burly it is?

It will move smoothly. You can counterbalance it for different weighted cameras. It will be stronger.
