Golfers of Boston

I know its the wrong season, but I'm starting to think about golf already and I'm hoping I could get a few answers here.

Spent the past four years at UVM and grew up in western MA, so I'm looking for some recommendations for relatively nice courses in the greater Boston area. I will be working in Copley Square and (hopefully) living not too far from there. Ideally, I would love to be able to leave work and go play 9 holes before it gets dark.

Starting in May I will be largely financially independent. I will be making good money, but I'd like to save as much as possible. I'm going to keep an eye on Groupon for some deals, but I know that golfing once or twice a week over the course of the summer simply won't be sustainable.

So if you have any recommendations for public courses within 20-30 minutes of the area that are reasonably priced please let me know!

lol i live in newton, ma(near boston) and i live near and have skied on a golf course. its fun.

i live right in boston, and there are alot of really good courses- ive never played them but ive had friends who have- there is putterham, which is right in brookline, and then theres THE country club, but thats only if uve got money to burn- theres a really good one called the charles river country club- i used to be a member there and thats a world class golf course- there are also some out in the dedham area, and theres one out in milton but i cant remember the name- lots of places you can check out
