Golf?

I've spent the last 4 summers working at golf courses.

I'm fucking terrible at the sport though.

im pretty sure you should've searchbarred for this, but im too lazy to do it myself and find the real thread and so fuck it.

yeah i golf. so what?

yea, i golf

am i any good?

no

that doesnt stop me, if i'm having a shitty day golfing i just tweak the governor

that or throw it into neutral downhill and power turn at the bottom

forward and reverse

I'm the person that gets to fix those ruts and tear-ups people like you put in the fairways and greens.

I call that job security!

:)

hell yeah, in high school i was starting varsity since the 8th grade, was all conference twice, i have been working grounds crew at my home course for the past 3 summers(such a nice job if you can get up in the morning), this past summer i placed 4th in a mens invitational tournament and won $1300, this fall i played for my college but i didn't play my best, college golf is really different then high school, so much more pressure to do good and all the practices while trying to study is stressful, i missed so much school too because we were always traveling.

sounds like BS to me. you can't accept prize money without giving up your amateur status, and you can't play college golf unless you're an amateur.

agreed.
but yes i play. tried out for my college team. played welll but did not make it. o well ive got 2 things that i can do for the rest of my life. golf and skiing.

play to a scratch, my varsity team came in 3rd at state this year in Illinois, used to want to play college, not so stoked on that idea any more even tho my parents and coach are haha, sorry fo claimin!

it was a calcuta tournament or however to spell it, its all underground beting, all the bet money goes into pot and i dont know how or where the money goes, all i know is i shot 74 to place 4th and won $1300, some courses have them, it wasn't a professional tournament because i wouldn't have been able to play for college, they look into that shit, i had to sign so many papers saying i have never won money. i knew someone was going to call me out on this, other people on my team have won money in this tournament also.

im an occasional golfer, though i dont go that much because i usually like screw up once then start tearing up the green with my club.

i hear ya man. junior year of high school i was allll about it. played ajga and fcwt tournaments and tried to get my name out there. senior year rolled around and i was burnt out.
decided to tryout this year (junior year college) just so in 10 years i would know that i could have done it. came in 5th in the open tryout, only 2 kids on the team finished higher than me and never heard a thing.just one of those things i guess idk

You have no idea what you are talking about, and i don't believe a word you say. Even a calcutta tournament involves betting, something highschool/college athletes are not allowed to do. Even if you say you personally didn't bet, you still can't accept any type of prize money or winning bets.

2 handicap right hurr. graduated from skyview highschool. we won league and districts all 4 years i was there. golf is a great sport and i highly recommend it to everyone. its a sport you can play forever

Dude, just forget about it. If he did or didn't make some cash, so what? Your life will not change either way. Give the guy props for being good enough to make some cash.

thank you! i guess i accepted money i wasn't suposse to and still play a college sport, and got a away will it. RJD2 can call the ncaa and tell them to kick my ass out then, be my guest. haha theres probably a tip hotline for that shit.

Nice, good to see all these people on NS are golfers!! I love the game and mainly dominate. I played in high school on the JV and varsity teams and I currently play for the SUNY ESF golf team in Syracuse, NY. I'm currently the #2 player on the ESF team out of 15 people and I was the #4-#5 player on my high school teams out of 10 people.

My Stats:

Scoring Avg. in High School: 40 (9 hole rounds) - Low: 36

Scoring Avg. in College: 79 (18 hole rounds, 5 matches so far) Low: 77

Low Round: 18 holes: 71 (-1), 9 holes: 34 (-2)

Handicap: 7

So yeah, I think I have some game haha
