There is this rich ass fag kid that is trying to tell me that golf is a sport, i think it takes no skill to hit a ball then walk 300 yards. then he was trying to say skiing is not a sport it is a hobby what do you guys think.

GOLF IS A SPORT!!!!!- it is really hard to play so don't think it's all easy and any dipshit can do it, it is deffinatly not just hitting a ball and walking 300 yards, it takes alot of practice to get good.- skiing is also a sport, it takes a ton of endurance, commitment and practice.Golf may not take as much endurance as skiing but it is just as dificult and involved

300 yards is a long fucking shot. Not even the pros hit it that far on every drive. It doesnt take any skill to be a horrible golfer. but to be good at golf it takes more than any other sport. Yes golf is a sport.

I don't play gold and i don't think golf is a sport, i think its a game. I do agree that it is very ahrd to it a golf ball far cause i have tried. It's not liike you just swing as hard as you can cause if you do that the ball goes everywhere but striaght.

golf is a lot like skiing. it's not hard to suck at, but to be really good at is a great task.

yeah its a sport, and it does require a good amount of strength, coordination and (believe it or not) endurance. When is the last time you walked a few lies with 10-20 pounds on your back?

And BTW, hitting a ball 300 yards isn't that hard, but takes a lot of time and practice to be able to do it.

Someone made a good point too about it being a lot like skiing. Any shmuck can put skis on slide 2 feet and fall on their ass and call themselves a skier, but we all know how much it takes to get good. Its the same as golf, any idiot can swing a club at a driving range or loose all their balls on a course and call themselves a golfer. Getting good is much like skiing, where you have to know your own strength(s), limitations, and equiptment in order to really reach the top of your game.

Can you tell I golf too? Plus its fun to play against old-timers when they look at you and freak out cause you are wearing shorts, a hat backwards, and having tatoo's and then you out play them on the golf course.

golf takes a crapload of skill. what it doesnt give is excercise. skiing is a sport because it takes energy. golfers invented the golf cart for a reason: they are lazy bums. golf is a game that requires tons of skill. not a sport.

golf is a hobby/game if you only play 9 holes or take a cart

18 holes or more, or no cart for sure makes it a sport

i think its a sport b/c it does take a degree of skill to make a par or even a bogie for that matter, you try goin 500 some odd yards in 5 stroke or less.. tell me how hard it is.. its not the driving and shit that gets me its the putting. i am the awfulest putter in the world this side of happy gilmore.

yes it is a sport, and as for exercise...yes I get plenty out of it...you try pounding 100+ balls a day, putting all your effort into each shot...its as mental and physically demanding as most sports I've played...if you put the effort into it (I have played football in all three years of high school, and baseball all my life, and basketball up until high school and play it again now...and cricket...)

those of you that say its easy to drive it 300 yards? I'd love to see that....I've been playing all my life and 3 hondo is a bomb for me

dude, play gold, u'll probably end up killing urself it's soo hard, u'll get frustrated so much dude. Most of you won't agree, but in gold it's a lot about ur clubs (equip), more than skiing. I was using this guy's clubs who just quit the tour, and i was hittin consistant 200-275 straight, it was great.

nah man, golf rocks. Whether its a sport or not, I don't know, but who really cares? Its fun, and it takes skill to be good at it.

im farily good at golf, play 3-4 times a week, and it can be a lazy mans hobby or a sport, if you drive golf carts around, drink and fuck around for 18 holes, your a lazy ass who doesn't play golf right, if you carry your clubs, play 18 holes while focused on your game and really nothing else, then its a sport, you have to take you time and play the game in order for it to be a sport, but most people dont like to play it that way, and thats fine, i just grab a cart, play 3 holes smoke a joint and go on my way laughing and having a good time, golf is my favorite sport, i like more than skiing, and most people think im a fanatic

PS i get really good at golf when i smoke.

i think golf is cheeper than skiing. at my public course its $17 in the summer and only 8.50 in the winter and you can get decent cubs for like 200
