Going to Oregon State

Sup

I got accepted to study abroad at Oregon State for Fall semester 2015 (in currently at uni in England) and am pretty stoked. Just wondering what the ski scene is like there. I know that Core run there but do they do much skiing in fall?

Also, is anyone currently at the uni and what's it like? Also, is the 21 drinking age strictly enforced or is it pretty chill?

Thanks

Corvallis is a great town you're going to have a blast. It's been a few years but when I went to college up the road I hooked up with the OSU outdoor club a couple of times for climbing. Back then they had a climbing gym and a shop people could use to tune skis and bikes.

As far as fall skiing goes you'll probably need to go to Timberline unless you want to tour. You can get a student price pass at Timberline. This season I was riding palmer the first weekend of October but since it was a horrible snow year I only ended up getting about 6 or seven days all fall. Timberline closes all Sept but then opens in Oct weather permitting. Let me know if you have any questions. I got a lot of help from random people when I was traveling in college and I'd love to help out.

Hey, I go to Oregon state right now and I'll be there through fall and winter next year. The ski scene isn't bad if you know where to look. Definitely join Core because that's the easiest way to meet a bunch of other skiers.

There isn't much skiing in the fall besides some Timberline and touring which was mentioned above. I'll definitely be heading up when its open so feel free to hmu when you get here.

Drinking age is enforced in the bars but there are always a ton of parties everywhere so no need to worry about that.

Go Beavs!

I hear BeefiestExpert will be at OSU this fall as well, you should try to link up with him!

He sounds like a cool guy, I just hope he doesn't play stupid computer games like League of Legends and Minecraft. Also it wouldn't help either if he wore Roshes and button ups.

Hell yeah. Where are you guys getting passes? I will be there this year as well. (I'm Paul.'s brother).

night skiing at hoodoo is 20 bucks

its 1 hour 45 minutes away

Seems like a no brainer.

It ain't hood, or bach, but it's cheap and as long as there is something to slide on, i'm set.

I'm coming from the midwest to OSU for grad school next year, do most people coming from Corvallis get passes to Bachelor or Timberline? They look like they're around the same distance, but I've never ridden at either of them. Pretty much just looking for somewhere that has a nice park in the fall/spring and is accessible during big dumps in the winter.

also, if anyone around campus is looking for a relaxed and clean roommate, let me know

In past years most people get passes to Bachelor, but this year I feel like it is a pretty even split for Hood (Fusion pass = Timberline + Skibowl) and Bachy. They are pretty much the same drive time. Timberline may be a tad quicker and easier drive imo.

People in the Core club (ski/board club) carpool most weekends. They haven't decided on Bachelor or Hood next year last time I checked.

Both have good parks. Timberline has limited challenging terrain but Skibowl is epic on pow dumps if you go Fusion. Bachelor has great terrain too but no cliffs. I've gone Fusion every year at OSU. Message me if you have any questions.

What about meadows? Looks like decent terrain, Ill be at OSU next fall and dont know where to get a pass/ if anyone gets passes at Meadows

Bachy all the way solid park and WAAAAY more and better off trail terrain. Has 10-40 ft cliffs off the summit you can hit too. Backside, west bowls are the best. Tons of dope lines on the frontside too if you know how to find them. For shorter trips hoodoo has some solid cliffs and Willamette has crazy steep trees which are dope and some cliffs off the back.
