Going to Hawaii by myself

I want to go to Hawaii again, it’s been years and now that I’m recently single, it would be nice to get away. Would love to go to Mexico and drink with the homies but would also be nice to get away on my own and not really drink, but enjoy the beaches, waves, skate, bike etc. I know Maui pretty well and there’s tons I would love to do.

Hawaii is expensive.

Doing this trip alone, I feel like I could get by pretty cheap. I would rent a scooter, go to Costco and prep all of my food, maybe rent a mountain bike for a day to hit some trails I know of, beer and fruit for the beach, sunscreen.

The problem would be accommodations. I’m sure I could find a cheap deal somewhere, nothing fancy or near the water, a room air bnb kinda thing. This is where going with a friend would really help cut the cost in half.

I would also have to buy a boogie board

I would hit up tinder so I wouldn’t be alone the whole time, would be fun to see where I end up or who I meet.

any thoughts or tips? Or would it just be better to hit up an all inclusive in Mexico? But that would be really boring alone..
 
hell no, do hawaii, see the real world a bit more, maybe meet some cool people, the hawaii trip sounds like a blast and a better experience all around. get slammed at home for cheap if thats what your looking for, just my 4 cents
 
Rent a uhaul and camp out the back of it

Also my dad use to work for dole back in the day and apparently the gangs would try to stab you if you tried to camp on the beach if you're a haole. So good luck bummin' there. It's probably better now than in the 80's tho. Maui is incredible

Yea I’d get a way better experience for sure and see a lot more. Would love to go see the world more but I want a relaxing trip where I know where I am, English and I’m able to hit the beach and lulu lemon the same day

Yea I’ve heard about how sketch it is trying to just camp there. Not a good plan and the fines too.
 
I went to Oahu twice this year, the first time with my family and the second time with my dad and gf. My parents were there for work so they had a free place to stay so I took advantage of it. The second time, while my dad was at work, we would go and explore ourselves and then meet up with him after. We found a pretty good deal on rental cars for 5 days and it was so nice to have. We were able to do most of the island and weren't restricted. You could look at hostels, they seem to be pretty cheap down there. Oahu is pretty packed but if you do your research, you can find some really good spots with no crowds. I think we did about 5 hikes while we were there. If you want something somewhat challenging but amazing views, look up the Wiliwiliuni ridge trail.
