Going Fast

Ripping down a trail going as fast as you can is so much fun. Especially when you have to dodge people.

thoughts?

ripping switch making huuuuuuge turns first thing in the morning when everything is freshly groomed and the hill is empty. Thats gotta be my favourite run of the day.

180 every roller you see. Big, small, its all good. First run, always blaze switch down a groomer, especially if its the absolute first run of the day, you can rip and not get anyone else in danger.

the fastest i've ever skied was two winters ago. i straight lined exit chute in the bowl at big sky- my cheeks were flapping from the speed, eyes watering so much i could hardly see. it was an adrenaline rush to say the least.

My hill grooms this huge slope that they use for gate training sometimes. When its fresh and before they put flags in it, you can bomb from the top of it down to the base. Its got to be at least a 500 foot scream down a 40% - 50% slope, I have no idea how fast I've gone. I should get a radar gun to find out this year. Also should get some balls to try it switch, my god that would scare the shit out of me.

rollers are the shit. some one needs to do it in a seg hit a long ass trail top to bottom at mach 10 and throw nasty rotations on evry roller. that would be so aesthetic lets petition pep.

there is something similar to that at my mountain. They have a speed trap race every year with a radar gun. I tried it switch once. I only got half way and then nearly pissed my pants.

going fast makes me trip balls!

I also prettend im a dirt bike and croutch down and sit on my bindings, and go rrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr- rrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr-BRAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!

Every once in a while bridger bowl grooms avalanche Gulch, its a single black typically filled with moguls. It's a fairly wide gully shaped run with two sweeping bends. We used to ride first chair up and tuck the whole run for as many runs as we could. I had one wipe, slid about 200 yards, but other than that its great. We estimated one day, via timing and marking a distance at the fastest point that we were hitting +90MpH.

I don't mean to bash but i really doubt you went ninety....once again, i may be wrong but i have a radar gun and i've had myself clocked and 90 + is very veeerry fast. I was being towed behind a sled over a 300 yard stretch before tucking on a down slope. i hit seventy five, my friend hit eighty five. both of us nearly shit our pants, and our park skis were jittering the whole time. crazy speeds man, props if you seriously hit ninety though, wow.

and killy is the best place to do it

going from the top of skysomething gondola all the way to the bottom of skysomething gondola racing my friend was the highpoint of my trip to killy

yea, b-lining down a tight ass trail packed with jersey folk mid-day on a weekend is the funnest thing. or full moon tucks on -20 degree days

or just strait line the shit out of superstar when they groom it but you got to do it top to bottom without stopping

i like the crisp winter mornings when you get the first turns on the corduroy. a groomed slope gets treated like a powder day in the lower east.

whoever said u went 90+ at brdiger ur retarted. I used to race FIS, the fastest I was ever clocked at was 79mph. That was in CO on a way longer and steeper run than anything at bridger (which i used to ski 4 days a week). And that was on a super G course on race skis waxed perfect on a icy ass fucking run. 90 is so fucking fast i don't think anyone has any idea. Guys that hit chads gap.....yeah not even 65mph. I have the picture on my wall of Tanner hitting it w/ a radar gun pointing at him and it says 57mph. The only time people really get going over 80-90 is either being towed in, or some FIS downhill course on 215 race skis.

But yeah i fucking love hauling ass over rollers. If a resort built huge ass rollers instead of kickers i would be content. Nothing like popping off a roller goin like 40 and doin a huge 180, or switch 180.

Im not sure what the speed was (prolly around 50), but straightlinging the second half of powder boll at crystal down to flat was craaaaazy fun.

you dont really love skiing if you've never had first tracks. you must enjoy walking a mile and half from your car to the lifts as well.

i love it, at mt.spokane sometimes they groom this run called 2 face, its just a single black but its mad steep, and when you haul ass like jsut tuck it straight, you go off these rollers and your probs 35 feet in the air and jsut haulin ass, to a super steep runout, man... that shits sweet

I've had people i went flying by come up to me after the run and say "that was soo cool! you made my day!"
