Hello,

I started skiing when i was about 4 like most little kids do and when i turned 10, i decided to try snowboarding and ended up staying with it, unfortunately.

now i wanna go back to my roots and start skiing again but havn't really been keeping up on gear so i need some help.

Height: almost 6'

Weight: 210

Location: The "Ice Coast"

i need a pair of sticks that can support me on rails etc.. but still be decent for the rest of the mountain. i was out boarding today, checking out all the skiers that were in the park competition, and I am leaning towards the Saloman SPK's but am not sure if they are good for my "dimensions" any help would be greatly appreciated, Thx.

you are pretty tall+heavy so you would probably overpower the SPKs..get something with a woodcore, and a bit fatter underfoot like a rossi scratch BC/Line Chronic Blend, maybe some 4frnt MSPs

ya i agree i think the spk's would suck for you.. probably a good choice would be the armada ar6 in probably a 181 because of ur height maybe a 176 if u want to turn easier, the ar6 is a stable all-mountain/park ski that will deffinitely hold up and is 85/86 in the waist so its decent underfoot

ok..just went to Armada's and Line's sites.

Im probably gonna go with the Chronic Blends 179cm.

if anybody has any other skis im mind or has any more info to back these up, plz post it :)

The 181 AR6 would be a solid ski for you unless you have any intention of skiing (or finding) any pow. I would reccomend those fo sho if you can afford them.

I did the exact same thing 2 weeks ago, I ended up buying K2 public enemy's. We are about the same dimensions and these skis ould be PERFECT for you, great all mountain abilities, good in the park, a stiff but nice flex (no problems with your weight) They go relativily well in powder, all in all I don't regret buying these skis at all. Pair them up with Rossi' scratch 120 bindings an you are SET.

I came to skiing this year from snowboarding too, although I had never skiied

I am the same weight as you and only an inch shorter, I picked up some armada 180 cm 03/04 AR5's and I absolutely love them. They are stiff enough to deal with the weight and are super fun.

Armada AR6's/ T-Halls or Line Chronic/Blends in the 180ish range would be great for you.

Depending on the amount of powder you actually ski, I would go narrower. Look at the Chronic instead of the Chon Blend, it is a bit snappier when it comes to spinning.

ya im probably going to go with the Chronic Blends around 180 cause there isnt always pow on east coast and when there is, its not that deep so they should do just fine.

I think a 185 Volkl Karma (or whatever the equivalent is called next year) or a Head Mojo 90 in 186. You're pretty tall and heavy and would benefit from a longer, durable ski, which both of these are. The Karma at 87mm in the waist would provide a wide platform for sliding rails and great on the days when you get fresh snow. The Mojo 90 is only a little bit fatter, but is known to be extremely durable, especially on rails. (If you want something thinner, you can always go for the mojo 80).

With your weight you won't have a problem turning either of these skis and you'll appreciate the longer length when you get up to speed. A Chronic Blend or Prophet 90 wouldn't be too bad either but both have been known to have worse reliability than those mentioned above, especially for someone of your weight.

yah i got the pe's, im about your height but weigh a little less, and the skis dont have enough flex for me, but i guess with your weight they may be fine. But good ski for all moutain.

well my first instict just reading your title would be invaders cuz they have an elliptical sidecut to make them feel more like snowboards for carving off jumps and such, but at your weight they wouldn't be great out of the park. I'd still consider them if I were you you'd probably still like them, especially once you realize that 99% of the days you ride on the east coast the only trails worth riding are the parks, if you ask me it isn't really worth sacrificing park performance for all mountain if you live here unless you make trips out west or are a racer and get that itch to shred groomers from time to time. I like my ar6s for everything, but only spent the extra dough becuase I was spending a month out west this season. for just east coast I'd get either k2 fujatives, silencers, or invaders. heck maybe spks too (I'm similar size to you, but 175 lbs)

i agree with everyone that said the 181 ar6..i have a pair myself and they are a solid ski no problems with em except minor top sheet chipping but i use them in park and on groomers and bumps i even skied a lil power with them in vermont when i was there and the were decent but overall they are a solid ski and should be a good choice for you
