i just started high school and the amount of homework is extreme compared to middle school. the amount of tme spent on homework went from 0 to at least 2 hours a night. its almost like they didnt prepare us for anything in middle school, i mean you might think some kids would become overwhelmed and not be able to handlew it and drop out. was it like this for you when you went to high school?

But to actually answer your question, two hours a night seems pretty fucking lucky to me. I had at least that much in middle school, and now I have a lot more in high school, so just be glad you're not in my situation.

i was the opposite, i went to the middle school from hell that gavve me tons of work, and went into highschool and worked the same amount and got strait As the first few months, then, i slacked, and have been slacking ever since, now im a senior

Yeah i manage to do all my homework in school. Even though I have two AP classes. Two hours out of your time isn't very much at all. but holy shit ^ 8 hours or whatever you said is crazy...

doing homework, maybe that's what I forgot in highschool (and college). I slept and cheated my way through high school, and was in all honors and AP classes.

But believe me, I'm not saying what I did was right, just that's what I did. I looked at it as I had better things to do (i.e. get fucked up). If I could go back, I would do a lot of stuff differently, but guess what, I can't.

2 hours isn't really that bad anyway. just get home, do your shit, and then that way you have most of the night to do whatever.

You want some good advice - don't bother too much with high school work. It all counts for shit. You can bust your ass doing something and take pride in it, but in the end you'll get just as much credit as the dumbasses in the class. Just make your you can do some good work for your final exams when it actually counts for something.

we just started block scheduleing, so we have 2 days to do homework. also, one of the advantages of 80 minute classes is 80 minute studyhalls, I have an 80 minute study hall every other day and an 80 and a 40 minute one the other days

twice as many ppl (%) do efficient on standardized tests as the state average. and its a breeze, you will learn to dodge things, like plan out your school day to get homework done there. but i usually end up doin it the day its due. but i study nothn, do close to no homework at home and still get A's and B's. im so screwed for college.

anyway, HS sucks, but here it's better than middle school. i just farted. now, back to the topic, the hwk in HS isn't that much more, it just involves more thinking. but i have block scheduling (80 min classes every other day) so that also gives you 2 days (5 on weekends) to do the stuff

ya, last year I must have gotten at least 6 hours of hw every night and also had so many after school activities. I'm not complaining though. This year is good though, while all my friends are taking this EXTREMELY hard history class and getting 2 hours per night just from that class, I'm getting maybe 2 hours of homework from all 7 of my classes. I'm in all advanced classes too. Don't complain about frosh year, I assure you that your soph and junior year will be much harder.

uh you are all lucky that you dont go to my school, each class expects about an hr and a half for each class period. plus its all based on discussion so if you dont read or do the work the teacher can tell.

i got shitty grades in middle school and didnt do much of the homework cus it didnt count for anything. now that im in highschool i have around an hour to two a night and do it all... get like 3.5s and im in AP. the difference of work from a 2.8 to a 3.5 is so little, i do like a half hour more a night.

i hope you're kidding, but if not it means advanced placement. the classes prep you for a test in the subject, that test may count for college credit.

In middle school all my teachers said we'd have tons of homework in high school and it would be waaaay harder. BULLSHIT. I have almost no homework and right now I'm in 2 AP classes. Its all about managing your time while your at school.

Yes, it is about managing your time. But I found that there is way more homework in grade 11. Im in gr. 12 right now and there is loads. Right now i only really have to concentrate on english but Im getting loads of essays and even with managing your time, you still have tons of homework. It loads you down but far from what University is going to do.

yeah, like alot of classes will give you time to do the assigned work. use that time!!! the teacher might not care if you're just going to talk cause it's not their work time you're wasting. If you don't want to do all the work at home, use that extra time to do your work. If you still have homework, get it done as soon as possible, it's no good trying to start and finish a project or paper at 11, cause you'll have a hard time getting up, plus you'll probably end up getting into a habit of that. Also, with weekend homework..try and get it done friday or saturday if possible cause then you're free to do whatever you want on sunday night and saturday night plus if you work things right, you get enough sleep to wake up bright and early monday morning.

No...I don't neccisarily always follow this...but through experience, common sense like that is good to follow to stay on top of things.
