Goin on a trip shipping skis Vs. Luggage?

i just flew boston-colorado with my skis and had no problem. Maybe took a few minutes more to get them at luggage claim, but thats it.

And what could be an important fyi....

most airlines count ski bag and boot bag as one bag, and don't charge for 1 as being an extra bag.

I think shipping might cost a lot more.
 
Well it all depends on your priorities. Because shipping an extra bag on airlines is a standard 50 extra dollars. Mailing is almost always cheaper, but it is a little more wobbly. You could get there before your skis or they could get shipped somewhere weird, you just don't have your skis when your going to a resort, i dont really know. So it all depends on how much skrilla you got and how positive you are that your skis will get there. Personally i just pay 50 bucks so i know they will get there and i can have them as soon as i get to where i am going.
