Goggles fog way to fast, dunno why

So I went out and bought a pair of polarized eg2, spent like $200 with tax, figured that eg2 are supposed to be great goggs, worth the investment.

BUT, I can't even make it halfway through a run before they are so fogged up, i can't even see through them, which on nice days is okay, I'll just take them off, but on snowy days like today, if I take them off the snow spikes my eyeballs and hurts pretty bad. I usually wear a balaclava underneath but someone recommended just try a hat and neck gator instead, so I did, and it didn't help at all.

Am I doing something wrong or did I just buy the wrong goggles?

I have a different pair of Oakleys that the same thing happens to, so idk if it is the brand.

And the foam is in perfect condition, just checked

I have touched them to wipe the fog but it doesn't seem to help it, and I stopped putting the balaclava over my nose, because that definitely fogs it faster, but even now that I don't do that it still fogs

of you whiped inside lense most likely yes....

But also if they dont fit your face right (like if you have gaps) they seem to fog up way quicker than when they fit ttight.

wiping the inside doesn't matter, dont listen to those people. The only way they can fog is if there is warm air getting in to them. Make sure the vents at the top of the lens are open and if you are wearing a balaclava or neck gaiter, bandana, etc. dont tuck it under the goggles. Or if you do wear a balaclava get one that has a hole at the mouth so you are breathing to the outside. Airhole face masks work well. airhole.ca

breath with your nose, keep them on all the time, its because of the huge change of heat with the inside of the goggle.

That little bag they came in when you first bought them. Always keep that on you and use it and only it to wipe your goggles off

no, youre wrong. most goggles, including EG2s, have a very fine anti-fog film on the inside of the lens. touching the film at all will cause them to fog up. the only way you can fix it is to buy a new lens. ya dun goofed.

If they do have an anti fog coating, it probably helps, and wiping the inside is probably a shitty idea, but even so wiping off the coating will not make them fog. You can go get some shitty old goggles from the 90's, single lens, no coating or anything and they wont fog if you wear them properly. Again, I'm sure the coating helps in marginal conditions, but its not gonna be the difference between foggy goggles and not foggy goggles.

So from what I understand, I need a new lens, either a balaclava with a mouth hole, or don't tuck in my balaclava, tighten the shit out of them so there are no gaps, and never touch the insides, and don't take them off my eyes at all ever when I'm riding.

Anything else?

And 4 reel doe, thanks for the help, I was getting pretty pissed off lately by my goggles.

you should not have to get new frames, just go buy anti fog wipes. unless you actually have like a tear or something than yah get new goggles then.

No, I baby the shit out of these things, when they aren't on my face they are in the case they came in. And would any shops carry those wipes?

Actually bud, they are 100% correct. The anti-fog sealant that the manufacturer coats the inside of the lens with is very soft, and is even softer when it gets wet from the fog. Wiping the inside of your lens will remove it.

My goggles were doing that last weekend so I tried some of that stuff and it got rid of all of it and they never fogged again. You just put some on the lens and rub it with microfiber until there aren't any streaks left. And it has a funny name which is never a bad thing.

I rub jiz on the inside of mine each morning. It's gotta be a fresh batch.

Best anti fog solution ever, sometimes keeps them fog free for 2 or 3 days. Fuck paying for anti fog shit.

Nature provides.

You said yourself that you tuck your balaclava under your goggles. That is 100% the problem.

Don't listen to any of these ignorant children talking about needing a new lens. Don't be a retard and tuck your mask in, and your problems will be solved.

You can buy these cheap anti-fog cloths. They work pretty well and they last quite awhile. You just wipe the lenses with them and you're good to go.

Well electric makes some of the worst goggle in the industry, none of their pros can even ride with them on their face because they fog so bad.

Get some Oakleys.

i'm pretty sure that's a lie because i have electrics and i have never, not once had a problem with them being foggy

Its really unfortunate that I have to post in this thread again, but some people just don't get it. The only way your goggles can fog is if there is warm, moist air getting in them somehow, ex. breathing, warming up from hiking, warming up from skiing hard on a snowy day. Any anti fog coating is a SECONDARY line of defense to fog. The FIRST being a properly designed, and properly fitting goggle. Maybe EG2's are just pieces of shit that don't vent properly, I don't know, I have never owned a pair. Either way, a properly designed, properly worn goggle will not fog regardless of any anti-fog coating on the inside of the lens. The coating is to help in extreme conditions, it is a secondary line of defense.

rip out some of the foam from the vents, you don't have to tear out the whole thing just make some extra holes

there should be some on the top too, don't tear out any of the face pad foam
