Hi everybody, this is the story of my GoFundMe campaign. If you have a couple extra bucks and you wanna help some people in needs, here is the link to donate:

I'm a 19 years old french student from Quebec, Canada and my passion is traveling.

It's more than a hobby, I would like to be able to make a living around it.

In the past year I've been all around Canada, France, Switzerland, Hawaii and I'm going in Thailand this winter.

I know that I have a lot of chance to be able to live in a part of the world where I have everything I need and more. In our society, we are able to live freely and we have always been teached that we can and we must do eveything we love, to flourish.

More than a billion of people live with less than a dollar a day and they live with a constant struggle about their life problems.

This is why I decide to give to those who don't have the chance we have.

During my trip in Thailand, I would like to be able to make the difference in the life of people that have never gotten it easy.

I want to truly help, by going directly to those who need it and appreciate their gratitude, seeing how we can affect people positively by some small acts and try to grow as a person to the best as i can.

No need of charity program, no money from the donation is going to marketing, salary, administration, none of that.

I will bring my camera with me during the trip and I plan to film every single act, so we can keep the count and you can see how your money as been used to change the life of someone that don't have your chance.

Are you planning on giving money directly to those in poverty? Cause I can see that doing more harm than good. Going through agencies like the red cross is sometimes the best so the money is turned into vaccines or something

Only good this has any hope of accomplishing is the offhand chance you get eaten by a tiger and there is one less french-canadian fuck in the world.

When you write a proposal asking some entity (a government funding agency, a scholarship committee, an online skiing forum) for money, you need to give them concrete details as to how that money is going to be spent and what results they should expect to see for their investment. You give none of the above, so you won't be getting any of my money. Not to mention I have no money.

Proposal dismissed.

Ok, theres a contradiction. You say fund ME ( ie get money for yourself to do it) and then you say "help the needy".

Also, what exactly are you doing to help these people? So far you've just mentioned you like to travel, and by the sounds of things have spent all your money on hawaii switzerland etc.

I absolutely, 100% guarantee you that going there will not help in the slightest. If you truly want to help, go get a damned job and donate your money. The money you will spend on your plane ticket would certainly help farrrrrr more than another Western tourist visiting their country would. Basically, you are full of shit and pathetic. Learn what reality is.

This is ridiculous. What utter garbage. It's more than a hobby? Don't delude yourself that travelling is anything more than a hobby and privilege. You want to make a living around travelling yet propose no means to do so besides begging on the internet. You've been to four countries in a year and now feel that you're entitled to other peoples charity to fund your next holiday under the altruistic/idealistic/goodwill pre-tense you're claiming. Get a job and pay for it.
 
Yay voluntourism! Nothing like promoting neocolonialism and your white saviour complex at the same time as taking work away from people who need it to support their families. There are good volunteer positions abroad but 95% of them are exploitive and ethically dubious so be sure to do your research. Any that are asking you to pay large sums of money are there to make money off of you primarily.
 
If you really cared you wouldn't have spent all that money on going to Hawaii and Switzerland. Oh wait mommy and daddy probably paid for all of that and now they won't pay for this one so you're looking for a handout.

have you thought about joining the Peace Corps? they fund you to do what you are planning to do, so why not make it easier on yourself?

OP, work yourself to fund your traveling. Its been said before, I'm going to emphasize that you can help, but probably not by "going directly." Seriously, what are you going to do directly? You have no real plan, what are you going to do when you actually get there. Do you have any local connections? Can you communicate fluently? Do some research on a legit organization, there are SO many, but there are also many that almost do more harm than good. Think church groups going to Africa to build a well when that isn't their problem, etc.

I would recommend checking Schwab Foundation out. There is a list of social entrepreneurs that work for awesome organizations that actually do help and do good in the world. If nothing on there matches up, looking into Peace Corps. Its fairly competitive to get into, but makes a difference and apparently is great on a resume down the road.

For the record, I think it is great you would like to help people, fuck everyone here saying "rich kid looking to help people in poverty." Yeah, that is pretty much entirely the situation, I'm in the same boat, I'm going to graduate college this year from a decent private school and would like to make a positive impact. But just going there is not likely to earn you more than a pat on the back on facebook telling you how great it is that you gave out loaves of bread and built two shitty shelters, assuming you're not just going to take photos to post to facebook to "raise awareness."
 
Im going to connecticut this weekend and as i am very poor could totally use some food money.

All you guys should totally give me some cash and i can help the poor in the area by like giving them a dollar or something.

probably made all of your clothes, your skis, all of your electronics, and devices or objects that you use on a day to day basis. Pretty much the only reason that you can possibly live the way that you live is because you are constantly exploiting cheap labour or poor people

Am I the only one who thinks this is a social experiment to see what shit you can come up with to get money with these kickstart/fund me's? I think it's more about the money, him talking about his worldly travels and such makes me think he's not even trying at scamming money, more so for entertainment
