speaking of turtles and turtle soup

i was down in florida, and we went on a deep sea fishing boat, the cheap kind where they take like 20 people and you dump your rod over the side where ever there is an empty spot on the boat. later that day we saw a sea turtle, and instead of commenting about how cool it is to see the creature, they were all talking about making turtle soup out of it. i laughed at the different perspective on things that people had.

Just bag it and move it somewhere else is probably what i woulda done. If you really wanted to be smart, and I'm not sure this is still possible, but a lot of upper class restaurants still make snapper soup. I've heard of people bagging a live snapper and taking it to a restaurant and they'll give you like 50 bucks for it, and they'll kill it for you. Just call around next time trust me you stand to make some bank off that critter.
 
Let me start by sayiung that this story is hilarious, and for all of you complaining, he thought that one blow to the head would kill it, he didnt want to torture it. We had the same situation with a crow in our yard, it was sitting there dying, so my mom gave our neighbor a shovel to kill it, and he hits it, nothing happens, so he thinks he should try to decapitate it with the spade of the shovel, after one stab the thing starts waddling off.

And the poor turtle. Come on people, those ducks and frogs probly have suffered plenty as well. And for everybody saying to put it in a bag, honestly think about it, its a big ass snapping turtle, Would you get that close to something that can take off your fingers?
 
well by "bag it" it could mean rounding it up into a crate, then moving that...

It's as if we, as the dominant species on this planet, couldn't possibly have thought of a way to NOT get our fingers bit off...
 
k firstly id like to say, i did not enjoy it, i though one to three hits would do and id sovle my grampa alot of trouble. the snappers eat all the shit in his pond, fuck up his gardens and lawns and scare away alot of other NATURAL animals. the snapping turtles are not natural to his pond.

that is absolutely disturbing what the fuck is wrong with you. First of all turtles dont travel far so obviously he is in his NATURAL environment, animals have survival of the fittest, deal with it. But hey it would have been 10 times easier to trap it and move it into what you think is a more suitable environment for it. clearly he wasnt worried about getting bit at if he tortured it like he did. im no expert but im pretty damn sure snapping turtles dont let go if they bite something so if you got it to bite a decent size branch you could move it into a box easily and to wherever you want at your own free will without being worried that he would bite you. what you did was senseless and disgusting.
 
haha shit dude my grandpas farm had one like that it was a huge on. they had the mexicans kill it tho and they used a chainsaw
 
There isnt much in the head to kill. I think the brain is further back in the head, idk I've fucked with turtles before, its not something I would do again. Sick (in a good way) story though.

I'm pretty proud of myself, I shot a pregnant raccoon out of a deer feeder.
 
dude... how big was this turtle??? When turtles are out of water they're fairly easy to catch. If you had any sort of decency, you could've easy put on some work gloves, picked it up by the tail or shell, and threw it in the bed of your pickup, and drove it to the nearest public pond, stream, or lake.

I mean big snappers can be a little scary like to get up to and get close enough to. But if you're quick, you can easily pick the damn thing up.

 
killing animals always seems good until you actually do it... then it feels bad...especially if you give it a long death. feel sorry for you
 
How can you tell if the turtle has no conscience of itself?! If it's rather old, and I mean, turtles can live a pretty dece amount of time, at least you should pay it some respect for surviving a buch of people like you. That turtle probably had a role in that pond, like eating stuff that would otherwise overpopulate it and destabilize that section of river. I hate it when peaople think they can beat up an animal cause thay asume they have the right to do it, they are superior. Wtf.. this does make me angry a bit, but I understand you really didn't want to make it suffer, next time take a car trip, please. Poor mr. Urtle.
 
^i still dont understand why everyone is on the turtles cock. It killed tons of ducks and frogs. What if this guy had a turtle pond and an alligator ate all the turtles so he killed the alligator. Would you still be on the turtles dick? Its a fucking turtle get over it.

nah dude... it's just about having some decent respect. Life is very precious. Taking any life is something that should not be taken lightly. Especially in a manner like that. Notice how we take our dogs to the vet and have them "put to sleep" rather than beat them to death with a shovel.

And your alligator reference is so far off base. You're trying to pose the question of which animal is more important or worthy of our consideration.

To me I don't really care what it is. Humans are so far phenotypically away from other animals in the evolutionary scale, that we have developed conscious thought, emotion, and culture. These are the things that put us so much further along than even primates. Some which have 99% same DNA. We should let nature run it's course, with minimal interference from ourselves.

If the turtle is causing that much of a disturbance on his property, come up with the minimum solution to the problem. Transplant the animal. Normally you can even get animal control to come and do it for you. And if you have to kill it, do it in a manner that is respectful. Most vertebrates have the neurological capacity to feel pain.
 
look at the claws on that mother fucker. Def should have been a character on mortal combat or tekken or something.
