God hates Canada?

wrong in the same way Harry Potter is wrong, or Charlie and the Chocolate Factory is wrong. can a work of fiction be "wrong"?

are you saying because his way is telling him how to live? or the bible in general? because if were speaking in general terms, i think a LOT of pieces of literature teach you how to live.

dont get me wrong, i think this guy is the scum of the earth, i just find it interesting that people think you can interpret something "wrong". that goes against the definition of the word interpretation

i have no problem with christianity, or religion (well i do in the sense that i dont understand how people can put so much faith in a work of fiction, but thats besides the point). I DO have a problem with fundamentalist whack jobs like this guy.

lol...... have you ever even read the bible? i mean like theres shit in it that is pretty common knowledge that is grossly fabricated.... i mean like yes out of the fictional stories one can find teachings about living life and such, but walking across water, water into wine, parting the red sea? come on you have to be kidding me.

the bible in general. teaching and telling are two different things. anybody who can base their life around a book needs to seek professional help imo, no matter what book that is. your interpretations cannot be wrong, but the words can. if there is something wrong with what you are reading, and you interpret it to be right, then there is obviously going to be conflict.

gotcha. and i agree, i dont understand how you can base your life around a book. but i think the bible could be used as something to GUIDE your life, without being followed word for word. when you follow it word for word is when you end up with these fundamentalist nutters.

Jesus was one of the most documented men in all of history, Not to leave out other scientific and archeological finds (like the Jewish temple) that pertain to the Bible. But whatever I'm over it because what it really comes down to is a difference of opinions and beliefs.

I fully agree with this statement that the Bible should be meant as a basis to guide your life and not live word for word because what may have been culturally acceptable when it was written does not exactly fit into todays society.

if by documented you mean documented in religious stories. its incredibly difficult to discern what is actually true (i understand to believers it is all true, but i am speaking from a historical/scientific perspective) about his life. while he most likely actually existed, very little is actually known about his life.

Jesus has been documented AFTER his "death." there exists no documentation about him during his supposed lifetime, despite performing all of those miracles.

waaahow guys go skiand before you guys start complaining about the lack of snow my baker trip just got cancelled so I'm in the same boat
but srsly guys, its a fucking book and some people think of it one way and others another. Each to his own.
I hate to say it, but I called this one right off the bat.

It wasn't supposed to be deep, it was supposed to be blunt and realistic. I could go on and on about it but I've learned in the past that debating with somebody religious about whether or not god exists is completely pointless and goes nowhere.

It's just my opinion that the bible is total bull shit and that if mankind really needs to be scared into loving their neighbors we truly are pathetic. I can find my own reasons thank you very much

"A man's ethical behavior should be based effectually on sympathy, education, and social ties; no religious basis is necessary. Man would indeed be in a poor way if he had to be restrained by fear of punishment and hope of reward after death."

--Albert Einstein
