So i am heading to boulder on the 15th this month with my girlfriend for her college visit. Should I bring skis, is there anything to ride yet even some rails i could find. Would anyone wanna be able to help me out with riding. I'm from Minnesota and haven't skied co except once. So just advice on what to do well there. Ill be there till sunday leaving that night.

I think abay is gonna open the 17th but not positive. Really though it's an hour and a half away so unless you have a car you can take for a day or find a ride with somebody going up, It will be hard. Plus it will only be the icy ribbon open (one run that they blow snow on that gets packed) with probably a few small rails set up in a "park"

where there is snow there is something to have fun with. You just gotta look at everything and constantly think "how can I ski that"

I'll be in the boulder area if I can find some people to ride with I would deffenitly bring my stuff but I don't think I could get the car from my girlfriend well she is doing her college stuff if anyone has a jib set up or anything out there even I'd be down to tag along and film some too

Well sounds like I'll be brining the gear along anyone have any spots and know when some places will open

the only place that will be opens is MAYBE abasin.. honestly probably not worth it.

There won't be any snow in Boulder unless there's a freak storm, and the weather people say its not supposed to drop below 40 for the next week. Closest place you could go is Loveland or A-basin if they open. Should've made your girl go on her visit a month or two later.

i really wouldnt waste your money on bringing skis. Boulder will get 0 snow between now and then.

Plus - if A-Basin and Loveland do actually open, it will be one sketchy, icy, crowded run with a small park that may or may not be questionable.

Loveland pass may be skiable, but i really wouldnt waste your time this early in the season. Save your money, come ski colorado later when the resorts are actually fully open.

I am in boulder now, some of the backcountry stuff like berthouds and stuff has gotten some snow but I dont think the resorts open up till the end of the month

you could do a few things

1. hit up A-Basin its gonna be packed so prep to hike the jib park all day with a million 11 year olds who are insanely good at skiing.

2. find someone with a truck and go up loveland pass hike the back country (bring some rails)

3. Go to some where with some good snow, some wheres bound to get some steamboat just got like 10 inches, and you could do some urban.

Hope it helped.

Slight thread derail. I was at Loveland pass last weekend and saw some dudes hitting a rail. How exclusive are these set ups usually?

trust me man, anyone who says abasin is sketchy, clearly hasen't skied a midwest east coast average park. When I showed up for abay early season last year, I heard a lot of things like white ribbon of death, so sketchy, really icy. I didnt expect much. I was blown away, snow is generally really fun, especially if it gets warm, set up is pretty good!

Bring your skis, you will have fun. Seriously.

dude no way im going to denver the 18th and 19th to visit denver u and uc boulder. i seriously doubt i'll have time to ski tho :/

both loveland and abasin are worth going to early in the season, maybe lots of people on the weekends but it's still fun

"Denver u and uc boulder".....? lived in colorado a long time and I'm not sure I have ever heard DU or the University of Denver called "Denver u" or CU Boulder or just CU or just Boulder called "uc boulder" And I am fully aware it doesnt make sense for the university of denver to be du and the university of colorado to be cu but thats just the way things are.

I suppose that depends on how much sounding stupid means to you. Really not trying to insult you, just thought since you are coming out to visit these schools, I would share with you what we call them here in colorado

And what is the in the upper left hand corner of the site you generously provided for your own embarrassment? "University of Denver"?!?! Amazing.

A basin will probably be open. But it definitely won't be worth it. One run, 5 hundred million people. That's how we roll when we open our resorts in the middle of October. haha But if you can do it and it's worth it to you, go for it.

I think I'll take them aloong and see mn skiing is ice all the time so it can't be that bad some skiing is better then none

If you can get a ride and are willing to hike a bit, you can always hit St. Mary's outside of Idaho Springs, you could just build a little kicker there to session or something. Also there's a spot outside of Ned but I don't think I could, in good conscience, give it away online, but talk to some CU kids, someone will know it for sure.

that's incorrect. as elgato said they haven't announced anything. keep up with al's blog for real updates, although when it is announced it will be all over their facebook.

I'm honestly guessing tuesday right now. snow tonight with decently cold temps over the weekend and snow monday night. Honestly it could be a tad sooner like monday considering they have like 60-70 percent of the needed snow.

do you work for a basin? i know you dont and abasin hasnt set an opening day you dickweed.
