The Hero 3 black does connect. The video quality changes depending on which model you get.

Forget the second sentence, go with the 4 silver. If it were me I'd personally save up a little more to get the hero 4 black so you can be set for the next few years while still saying relatively up to date.

4k's not gonna replace everything in our lives that fast, I think the 4 silver will be fine haha.

3+ black if you feel like you need 4k, 4 silver if you just don't give a shit and wanna make cool films with your friends while being able to see what's going on in live view without your phone.

So no, the picture quality isn't exactly the same, the 3+ black's is a bit better in 4k since it is 4k, but realistically, ya probably won't need it since it'll run through your micro sd's real fast+ it doesn't sound like you'll be doing a lot of post editing if you're asking these.

I'd say get the 4 silver haha.

the 4 silver is super sick, that screen makes it so nice to change settings and everything. even though you can do that on your phone, still is nice to be able to frame up your shot and get it good. especially with a few new additional settings. I have used both the black and silver and i kept the black because I am using it for my drone.

Definitely go with the Hero 4 Silver. The photo/video quality is better than the 3/3+. The navigation is easier. The touch screen works well. You also get the improved lowlight performance. Overall there were a lot of solid improvements.

As for Hero 4 Silver vs. Black. I have both and I grab Silver 90% of the time. The Black is an amazing camera but a lot of it's features are overkill unless you plan on really getting down to business.

I take back what I said, I thought the silver couldn't do 4k and I was wrong. Get the hero 4 silver for sure then.

I didn't mean in the aspect of 4k. I meant framerate wise and video quality wise at 1080p. Sorry for not making that clear.
