Go pro HD editing software?

I am trying out Adobe Premiere Pro, but I have 0 video editing experience. Two questions:

1. Do I need to change all the MP4 files to MOV like 123ski described (video files are the 720p at 60 fps)

2. Since I don't even know where to start, what is the best way to learn to use this program? I just need to learn the basics, is there a good tutorial out there someone could point me towards?

Thanks in advance!

1. I believe so, because MP4 doesnt work at all for me

2. Im pretty sure there are some tutorials on youtube, just search for them

such a useful thread, thanks everyone

I hope FCP doesnt do the same for me

Will importing my Go Pro and my HV30 into final cut work alright?

It took an hour for my 1 minute 30 second Go Pro HD video to render. Does that sound right?

Also, will importing my Go Pro and my HV30 into final cut work alright? L

I'm trying out both FCP and Premiere Pro

sorry for double post

i do have the pro res format, but i am also getting massive files. one of the files is only a minute and a half long, but takes up 1.65 gb.

I could torrent Vegas or whatever, I just want something simple. Im on a PC. Are you pretty much forced to convert the video before you can edit it? Seems like everyone is either using vegas or premier pro? windows movie maker? whats the most straight forward way to do this?

thanks

i use Sony vegas pro without any trouble, usually i shoot in 720, 60fps
imho, if you're new to editing, vegas is a great way to learn, it's very logical and has lots of tutorials on youtube...

just finished my first kinda decent edit with the GoPro, this was all edited with vegas pro 9.0c, and right now theres a new version coming out; sony vegas pro 9.0e...

feel free to comment, i'm still learning and can use any advice :)

^^and if your pc has trouble handling the preview function in vegas; just select the footage you want to preview and hit shift+b; then your pc will quickly render it (3sec+-) and you'lll have a streaming preview of your work...

good to know, i just torrented vegas pro 9 a couple days ago. i still need to patch it and get it running though. when i find time i'll do that and play around with it.

is that the 9.0e? what do you mean by supports it? you dont have to convert files?

Yea I could torrent it as well, not sure how big of a hassle it will be to acutally get it working though.

i run 9.0c and its def. compatible with the mp4 files from the GoPro, no conversion needed at all....

cool, thanks for the help. i though the hd files came off the camera in some really weird format. thats why 123ski was talking about converting them and all that.

Premiere Pro CS5 and after effects CS4 is the way to go!

If you are totally awesome and hardcore you use Photoshop aswell!

Sony Vegas is crap no offense (:

torrents dude... torrents...

Ok, can someone tell me what Sony vegas movie studio doesn't have that Vegas PRO does? I'm sick of all the crap i have to go through torrenting it so im just going out and buying it.
