go and wave your flag

Watching Bush's state of the union speech makes me fucking sick. Sentence after sentence of blind meaningless propaganda.

You're not like the others with their empty eyes and plastic smiles.

Watching right now. He's not saying anything positive or anything helpful, anything that we haven't heard from him and his administration a million times before. 'UNLESS YOU ACT, AMERICA FACES A TAX INCREASE!' No, unless you and your oil buddies stop fucking us over, America faces a tax increase.

i dunno, bush seems kinda like an idiot, but not with the style that chetchien had...'i do not know if i should know or not what i do not know..' clasic...

everyone says stoopid things (and I am definatly a Bush hater regardless). The fact is that being a good speeker and having good ideals (having good policies, shit like that) shouldn't (but does) have something to do with being a good preident. It is becuase Americans need to be told becuase the fuckers won't think for themselves and observe the obvous actions what one can draw conclutions from if one thinks for themselvs!

and ya I know I spelled stoopid wrong

I saw some would be contradictions in some of the ideas proposed. He was talking about the No Child Left Behind Act. He followed that with talking about setting higher standards for schools. So what the hell happens when you have kids who can't meet the standards? Just because you focus on these kids more supposedly doesn't mean they'll be able to meet new high standards. And plans to send private sector teachers to teach part time in the public schools. I can never see that happening. He proceeded to talk about drug testing working in school. But when you test positive for drugs at school... you usually get some form of expulsion or suspension possibly and then you get rehab. This is also a distraction from school time. I don't necessarily have a solution, and I'm pretty much a moderate conservative, but these plans just sound very idealistic.

I didn't know if I agreed with his plans on prisoner release program. So we have to spend more money to house prisoners half way while they get job training. Why can't we give them job training while they are in prison and try to cut some of those tax dollars and time in half? Are there statistics that show that these programs bear a high enough success rate that the money spent on this program would not be in a net excess, if the percentage of prisoners going back to prison were too high?

I know the state of the union speech is very general, but I was struggling with some things.

yeah...i think to much about this whole thing-basically i really agree with everyone here-the no child left behind act-is a good idea, but not really the right way to go about this good starting point, and i dont know-i guess if you look at it from someone elses (non-thinking for themselves do what someone else says is good) brain then it makes sense-shit i cant even type how much i have to say-i dotn know, then this whole lets go bomb iraq thing-it just seems pointless i mean sure some people are filled with hatred and just wanna bomb everyone and its like wtf? sure the talaban or whatever did something bad but not all of iraq-thats like if one person in a class of students i dont know-say pissed on the wall- and you know that it was just that student- and you like knocked out all the kids or whatever- i mean sure, we could use millions of dollars to bomb them ( o and great idea-send bombs and food at the same time! in the same yellow package! itll be like a game show!) and then another lot of money to rebuild-it just seems stupid-or not thought through...at all...ok so im sure someone out there thinks it makes sense-and maybe it does, i mean what would i know? but this whole thing kinda just makes me freakin sick. and o yeah-lets go drill in freakin alaska-who gives a shit about everything else-argh-ok so once again-two fucking sides..but dammit its so much easier to not look at the other side and just be straight up pissed...ok well im about done with my rant now...kinda in a trance cause i can never tell anyone what i mean cause they dont get it and its complicated-hehe this was very interesting, and i rally dont know what im talkin about so...hehe ok yeah but yeah

u guys do realize bush doesnt right that speech? he has a team of writers that get paid millions of dollars for writing that speech. and thats not a conspiricy or anything thats a fact. as much as i hate him u cant base your hate on speeches.

//( o Y o )\

i could go off....but the best part was when all the democrats applauded out of turn when bush said the patriot act expired in a year. of the hundred or so retarted things he said though, the stupidest idea of his was giving $23 million dollars for DRUG TESTING in schools. oh what a great FUCKING idea! i'm SURE that $23 million FUCKING DOLLARS would do no good actually going into the education system. i'm putting my dog's name on the ballot this year

gravtek, I've read over the whole no child left behind act and can tell you that it's a step in the right direction. It does not place that high of expectations at all on students, and as for those that fail to pass? Firstly, if they are disadvantaged students they will not be held at the same level of expectation and will receive aid. Secondly, if you fail you aren't going to be instantly reprimanded. Programs and tutors will be made available to you if you're interested.

It's all about accountability. It simply holds teachers and school districts accountable if they are failing to do their job adequately. Is it too much to ask that third graders be reading at third grade level? If teachers are failing then students are given OPTIONS. They can chose to attend another school that's doing better.

If teachers are failing, they too are given options. Even if they fail miserably for a year or so, that just means that resources are made avaialbe to them to help fix the problem. It's only after years of continuing poor results that immediate action will be taken to fix the problem.

Eat. Sleep. Breathe. Ski.

My jaw fucking dropped when he said drug testing in schools, I go to school for an education, what i do when im not at school is my own fucking business. And yeah, that money could actually go towards education rather than prosecution.

You're not like the others with their empty eyes and plastic smiles.

I liked when he talked about that 2, umm I mean 10 yearold girl that sent him a letter.

and like the Daily Show said, Bush is a ideas president!

fuck! at this point I would be happy if John McAin was president. atleast he is straight folward!

Thanks Jared, I didn't really know that much about it. I was hoping it was more well thought out and not contradictory. I really hope they are ready to put some serious money into it then because I went to a public highschool in an area that included mostly middle class and lower middle class areas, with some upper middle class as well, and the citizens of our district always voted no on school levy's. We didn't have much peripheal need within our district but even our teachers were always expressing to us how limited they felt on what they had to work with.
