the first few for those of you familiar with the area, glory hole at alta. 3/4 of the way up the sugarloaf lift on the right. to air that whole thing was inconcieveable to me. this video is from Y2k dudes taking 170+ foot airs in bounds into tracked out landing. then there is like a 80 foot backflip air from pierre on badnews on the shoulder. then again at 4:58 there are a few other huge airs. also in there is sage super young. great video.

pretty nasty pretty nasty

if some one can imbed that thats dope

i dont know why i always get pysched to see these huge airs and than i remember that they land on their backs. big let down. but still 170 inbounds is pretty amazing.

nice! that guy was hitting those massive cliff jumps like he was diving into a swimming pool! what a nutter!!

Once it gets to a certain height you pretty much have to land on your back or ass. for example seth talks about how he tried to stick his double front flip off of the 150 footer in believe and he broke like 3 ribs from the impact.

ha, good to watch but skiers like that shouldnt be promoted, its not skiing, its straight hucking form the early 2000s when xxxtreme meant doing something really really stupid.

yeah im a big fan of lawn darts and some of those airs made me sweat watching them but that fool lands straight on his face a few times and head first more than half the time.

extreme should be defined as being in a situation where if you fall or mess up you die, but don't because you're a professional athlete who is taking a sport to its extremities more than most and is trained to handle those situations. in these guys case, they have the balls to go for it but show a lack of talent or calculation, just hoping they dont die. Seth skiing a line in AK then sending a 70 ft frontflip is extreme skiing. this guy just sending it into crud onto his face is un-calculated and dumb. although i dont know how much time that guy put into doing such stunts, the way they came out on video and the look of the whole set up looks super amatuer and dangerous. still hilarious to watch, but if he hit a rock or someones lost ski on impact with his neck this would be telling a differnt story.

that wasn't only at alta correct? cause there was some park in there, and last time I was in Alta there wasn't a park, or any talk of their being one.

the park is from canyons squaw, and snowbird red bull big air. and a few of those big hits were snowbasin too.

To me this is the same logic as "Skiing urban isnt skiing because you spend hardly any time on snow and there is hardly any actual skiing talent involved."

Its all skiing, and should all be celebrated by what makes it unique to the skiing world. We're a diverse bunch and ITS ALL GOOD. No one can define what skiing is or isnt.

how do those guys not get hurt launching 100+ foot gaps and huge cliffs directly onto their heads? someone explain to me how that's even possible that they didn't die...and why wouldn't you want to land on your feet? if you can lawn dart like that...why not just roll around to your feet?

it's just not fair that they don't get hurt

I think most of the time they make a last min rotation onto their backs, wearing big packs full of stuff, back protectors and really good helmets. You would be breaking more bones landing on your feet in conditions like that. ie. Seth breaking a few ribs in AK from a 150 footer as mentioned above.

i completely disagree with you. so just because i jump off cliffs without doing backflips doesn't make me a good, freeskiier? Straight jumping off cliffs is pretty gnarly, but now are your required to do tricks off them. i hope that i've misunderstood your post, cause your completely wrong

yeah, i didnt mean you have to throw a trick or anything, just be calculated an dialed about it. sorry, didnt mean to be unclear, dropping cliffs with style is sweet.

Straight hucking is what's best about skiing. I'd rather watch huge ass lawn darts (5:00) than switch cork 10's.

how dont they die with a broken neck? someone explain please, how they just land on their noggins

I don't think these guys are actually good skiers, they just have the balls to dive off big cliffs and look retarded while doing it. No style at all...

thats rob holmes king of the lawndart. i also spy some vintage candide, mcconkey double backflippers, josh loubek, and tanner hall.

i miss those days.

I witnessed Rob Holmes' front flip to head plant in person from the bottom of Glory Hole **claim**. It my first day ever riding Alta. I always thought people at Alta were gnarly but then I witnessed this. I think I peed myself a little when watching it happen, we totally thought he was dead when he landed, but then he popped right up and skied down. I was amazed.
