Globalization is modern day slavery, 1st world countries need to use 3rd world goods/assets which are land and people, to keep our prices reasonable. They steal and ruin land by grazing cheap fast food beef, and they force these people to work in sweatshops. People will argue that they are making more money than before, but now they don't own anything, and there is no longer a sense of community.

oh i getcha, yeah in a sense, i think it could work. but there are better systems. eventually the world will be ready for something like that, but not now...

Doesn't globalization imply having a reasonable quality of life for all jRich??? I'm pretty sure it does. Yes i mean can the world work together in harmony, with a reasonable quality of life for all? First we all have to become more tolerant of others and their beleifs. And we have to educate people and stop them from having babies like rabbits so that the world population doesn't increase soo much that we use all the worlds resources.

But you'll always have classes, somebody will always be higher up than others, and there will always be division.

Globalization is the opposite of Communisim there chach - or at least it is the manefestation of its power. Globalization is in effect a free market that allows industrys and governements either by proxy through a company or through direct effect, to spread their effects around outside of their home regions. McDonalds opening shop in Chinese Siberia is an example of that aspect of Globalization. That is not so much communisim, which is - on its theoritcal level - a system characterized by the collective ownership of property and by the organization of labor for the common advantage of all members.

McDonalds and the Gap and the WTO and the IMF and the World Bank and all things that Kissinger touch are not so much about the common advantage.

^^ Shut my mouth - I just re-read that after I posted my message (I wish you could read what you were replying to while you type - Harvey, can you sort that out? Thanks..) Sorry about that.

isn't globalization part of the reason that a lot of people in the middle east hate us?

'Oh my god. it happened again! i got better looking' Boyd
