Global Warming Skepticism

hybrids are retarded, and for retarded sheep who cant think for themselves or use any common sense. its not saving the earth any more than a hummer, its taking the pollution and hiding it in another form. while wasting less abundant materials. this is why electric cars are a stupid idea too. the rare metals and minerals that need to be used for the 500lb batteries are soooooo much less abundant, and just as if not more harmful to the environment when they need to be disposed of. if we all switched to electric cars, our problems we are currently experiencing with gas powered cars would intantly multiply.
im not 100% either way on global warming, but i strongly believe that if we do have an effect, its a very very small effect. ill admit its stupid to think that the billions of gallons of C02 we are pumping into the atmosphere are having no effect at all. the debate is on how much. and its hard to know because 90% of the "evidence" put out there by scientists is money driven and very skewed. they say "oh this glacier is melting, and this part of the earth is warmer than it used to be, so global warming is true" the fact is that our planet is constantly moving and changing, ocean levels are always raising and lowering, glaciers are always melting and lowering, the crust of our planet is moving non stop. and IMO most the global warming "evidence is driven off of peoples ignorance of geology and a basic understanding of how our world works.
 
something over 95% of the scientific community backs man made global warming. i dont understand how its even a debate. men and women who have been trained their entire lives to research these things are reporting these findings.

anyone who i've actually talked to in real life who doesn't believe in man made global warming just comes off as a nutcase. had a conversation about it with a girl the other day and then out of no where she drops the alex jones/prison planet bla bla bullshit. yes your right its all some huge scheme al gore is orchestrating hes paid off all of the scientists to report back that us treating the planet like shit actually is bad for it! its a conspiracy!

and i truthfully dont really get how some of them are so passionate about it. i love the outdoors and clean untouched nature. why do you care so much that people are trying to take steps to make our society sustainable and clean for the future. how does it affect you besides positively? even if all the bullshit skeptics spew is true, who doesn't like a crystal clear river on a crisp summer day, or pollution free skies.

in any case, as the majority of problems we face are, its a problem of overpopulation and overconsumption of the few. westernized states gave up on the idea of simplicity and self reliance a long time ago, and the majority of its citizens don't seem to be wanting to go back anytime soon. its an addiction.

I'd just like to throw out there that since about 1750 man has been trying to navigate a ship through the Arctic Circle, but have never been successful because of the ice caps. This summer for the first time in history man was capable of navigating a ship through the ice caps in the Arctic Circle to go from one side to the other. Just throwing that out there.
I'm no "liberal fuck" by any means, and I have friends on here that can absolutely vouch for that, but people need to pull their heads out of their asses. If the sea levels rise 1m, which is an extremely conservative estimate, Miami is gone- under water.
 
Alright I am constantly reading both sides of this argument, and the majority of scientific data supports that humans are contributing to global warming, not causing it.

The earth has a history of warming and cooling, for example in the 1200s there was a little ice age that was caused by volcanic eruptions.

However the average world temperature has increased significantly more rapidly then in the past starting in the late 19th and early 20th century.

I would like to point out that all the data i have presented is from professors or people in the field who work with this type of data. Most critics of global warming point to a period between 1998 and 2000 where the average temperature of the world dropped. However data will show you that while the average temperature will fall and rise, the long term average is still increasing dramatically.

And Al Gore is by no means the inventor of global warming, people who think that are retarded.

And even if global warming does end up reversing and the world begins to cool, is it worth risking the future of our sport by ignoring it?

Global warming is real, there is no doubt, the question raised is, is it man made? It is not man made, but we contribute to it.
 
Sorry for dub post, but people always fret about "ooooh we have to save the polar bears... so sad." Hell yeah it's sad that polar bears will be extinct because they rely on ice caps to survive, but think about the humans! Miami isn't the only thing going. With that 1m rise in sea levels, 1/2 of Bangladesh is gone. Where will all of THOSE displaced people go? And we think shit is messed up in the Middle East now...
 
also the website sited in the thread title is not from a scientific community, it is from a group of skeptics who present their side only and do not spend much time looking at all the facts.

My facts are from UCLA, Yale, Berkley, and NOAA.
 
This is my Grandfather's research. I haven't watched all these videos (Theres 4 of them), but I imagine there is some good skeptic stuff in there. I am pretty skeptical myself...

just because you hear too much "going green" stuff and it anoys you does not mean that hundreds of scientific studies are false.

Global warming is real, its been scientifically proven with ice cores, fossils, measurements from temperature readings throughout the world and geologic records.

Why do you think the people that produce the data used by both global warming experts and skeptics are the ones that believe humans are contributing to it.

By no means is driving a prius going to solve everything, but if we make major investments in long term public transit infrastructures and producing electricity in cleaner ways we can slow down global warming.

people who say that they are green because they have an electric car are not looking at the big picture. Unless they can prove that their electricity is coming from a clean source, then they are probably driving a coal burning machine.
 
lol, I find it funny that no one has taken the time to figure out what the Natural Resource Conservation Service has found out about temperature increase. I actually guarantee most of you haven't even heard of the NRCS. The real experts are always over looked. Go find out who the NRCS hydrologist is for your state and ask them about the impact of global warming. If you are in Utah his name in Randy Julander and he will blow your mind.
