in science class i recently found out that global warming is being overplayed and is not really such a problem. the earth is headed into a warming trend, and in thousands of years, it will head into a freezeing trend. that is why all the glaciers are melting. while polution does destroy the o-zone, it does not make such a difference that it can change the climate even one degree. so please stop posting about how much global warming is hurting skiing.

Im not gonna get into this it would take to long for people to understand . its true most people on here have no idea it is, especially you fuckwit! the ozone layer has nothin to do with global warming. global warming is caused by green house gasses such as co2 and methane which cause the greenhouse effect by trapping thermo radiation in the atmosphere instead of letting leave like it would regularly. the depletion of the ozone layer is due to cfc's (clouraflouracarbons) sp. this is a seperate problems that has seperate consequences. such as higher levels of solar radiation and increased cancer rate. global warming is real we dont see the results as much cause of the earths natrual tendency to enter an ice age. (long story) the point is its real, we wont feel the real damage that is being done in our life times but the average global temp will rise slowly.

The hole in the ozone layer does affect people in southen hemisphere countries like chile causing increased numbers of people with skin cancers.

Also whilst current global temperature rises cannot be proven to be caused by gases such as carbon dioxide its still a very sound theory that cannot be disproved. Although there is a chance it may be wrong theres probably a larger chance it is correct and nobody can definately say its not true.

You're sort of right; yes, the earth undergoes warming and cooling patterns, and we're currently approaching the peak of one of the warming points. However, the extent to which the earth has warmed on this cycle has been rather extreme... it's certain that human activity has caused at least some of this extremity, but how much is hard to judge. I'll post graphs in a minute.

This thing is pretty cool too. It talks about earths magnetic field getting weaker and weaker untill the too poles flip, and that will kick our atmosphere back into gear, and make everything really cold, and we may not be a dipoler world for a while but maybe a tri or quad, and that this happens in cycles of about 100,000 years, the field gets weaker and temp gets hotter than really quickly everything switches.

 
seriously, research all has to do with who funds it. keep that in mind as you quote statistics about global warming, and maybe you should take a peek at who's responsible for those statistics.

all I know are is that 1998, 2000, 2003, 2002, 2004 (something like that) have been the warmest years on record, AND the warmest years temperatures derived from ice core sample evidence dating back thousands of years.

the only thing anyone has to know is that global warming does not happen over night. its a gradual thing. so anyone who posts about their strangely warm january, its because there is a lot of wind from the south or something. not global warming.
