Global warming....bite me.

4:50 on the day of april 16th in aspen colorado, the sun was shining all day long, while i was stuck wishing i was enjoying the last few days of the open mountains. as soon as my pack was on my back, the ambulance had drove away (one of the chicks in my class has a seizure) and i stepped outside into freedom, tiny crisp white balls starting hitting my face. yippie for 2 inches tonight!

You do realize that this thread is probably going to turn into a massive global warming argument/hatefest right?

i dont give a shit, i made this because of my love for snow, not saying global warming or anything doesnt exist.

global warming will actually cause more snow...... because the melting ice will destroy most of the gulf stream which carries warm weather to the east coast and europe..... with this broken it will be alot colder...... second of all with global warming there is more humidity in the air so when it gets cold it will snow alot faster because that water vapor will condense and form clouds which will let it snow.

in oregon its like still winter, we're still havin pow days and stuff, mt hood has had over 700 inches of snow fall this year.

hahahahahahahahahaa. Sorry nothing personal but that is just an example of the many ill effects the day after tomorrow had on our young people. You realize for the 3.5% salination level of our oceans to even remotely drop, both the ice caps would have to almost completely melt? And theres no gradual weakening of hte gulf stream. Either its there or it isnt. You dont have degrees of big currents like that. And the gulf stream isnt even fully controlled by salination levels. Other factors affect density (the factor that causes currents) such as water temperature. If the gulf stream shut down, you'd know it and you'd know it fast.

The same thing is happening here in Washington. And the forecast (NOAA) shows snow down in the low lands, like 200ft above sea level.

i wish it was like that at my mountain. i live in new york and my mountain is close. its like 70 degrees here. you are lucky.

technically then its not global warming anymore its climate change. because places that should be cold are hot, or places that shouldn't get precip get it

is it just me or did this not make sence

the person he quoted didnt say one thing about salination levels

also never said anything about the graduall weakening of the gulf stream

my science teacher actually told me that this was true with less dramatic efffets, teh gulf stream wouldnt be destroyed completely but would be diminished some.

is it just me or are you a complete idiot? What he talked about was polar ice caps melting causing the golf stream to be destroyed. the reason that happens, or hypothetically would happen, is because currents are caused by differences in the density of water. One factor for the density of water is salination (ie the level of salt dissolved in water) If the polar ice caps were to melt, therotically the amount of added water to the solution that is the ocean would cause the ratio of water to salt to go up, changing the difference in density of the water in the gulf stream. this would cause the gulf stream to shut down essentially, theoretically putting us into an ice age.

Do you regurgitate everything your teachers tell you? Do you believe evertyhing they teach you? If that's the case then you have the worst science teachers of all time...science is about not taking anyone's word about anything. Its about figuring it out for yourself and testing and trying to disprove everyone's theory...its the whole basis of the Scientific Principle.

Just a little food for thought....at one time, every science teacher was teaching that the world was flat and the earth was the center of the universe/solar system. Im really glad someone out there questioned their science teacher...

Lastly..WTF are you doing ruining such a great thread...awesome thread man! I wish I could step out and have 2" of fresh snow hit me in the face...who cares what caused it..if your thinking that deep..stay off the mountain, your gonna hurt yourself cuz your head's in the wrong place!

i agree with not regurgitating everything my science teacher says i dont no i just think it will be awsome if that happened.

yeah...not really ever taught that the world was flat just saying...Aristotle said it was common knowledge amongst the learned that the world was round.

but, to the thread maker. Yay for colorado.

i live in ak and temps during winter are uaslly 50- this year it was mainly 10- or so, so its warmed up quite abit, and were uaslly snowless by april and now its snowing like cray like every other day, when we funk with the world weird crap happens
