Glidecam HD 1000 vs. HD 2000

i was planning to make a thread about this, dont tell me to get a tripod because i got manfrotto 700 system a few months ago, have nice glass but cant decide on which one with my t2i + 11-16

well yeah, thats because a high quality tripod is gonna cost like over twice as much. even mid quality tripod > glidecam.

he might already have a tripod tho. also depends on what his shooting style is tho and if he's even using it for skiing. if he is run and gun/follow cam style then glidecam might be better

He skies at the same mountain as me, I've see him there a total of 1 times with his camera (handheld), and never seen any photos or videos (which he said should be expected soon). He also seems to have just gotten it, and him having no experience working a tripod leads me to believe no matter what glidecam he gets, it will do no good in an in-experienced filmers hand.

Not this again.

Look up your camera body + lens on B&H. Under specs it should list how much each of them weight. Add those two numbers. Does that number fall in the weight range of the HD1000, or the HD2000?

This isn't a difficult concept...

You get what you pay for. A glide cam is a very precise machine, when you take that away, you're taking away from the performance.

cheeping out on gear is never a good idea, save up more till you can afford it, why waste money on something you will most likely want to replace because you were to cheap to buy the real one?

If your DIY steadicam has similar performance as an actual glidecam, you're doing it wrong. Safe bet to go with the 2000 though OP
