Yes it's engineering, dipshit, that's my point. Skis are made by numbers, calculations, and raw materials. And it is not that hard to build a ski, in fact most people could do it. The problem lies in the cost of materials and the cassettes to press the shapes. That's why skis are expensive.
If you think it's art, fine, but in reality it is a pretty stagnant, manufactured process. Just look at the dimensions of skis over the last 5 years (with the exception of new reverse camber/sidecut skis), they are all pretty similar. Look at the DIMENSIONS, the sidecut radius, not the width, and you'll find most freeride skis are between 17-22m range.
