most of the black and white downtown MPLS pictures looked a little flat. your camera's tilted a little on the apartments picture. not a bad start, but it looks like these were more snap-shots than photos you took time to compose

Exactly what they were. I was moving in a car while taking most of those. How would you suggest on improving the flatness of them (other than not moving while taking them)?

Gotcha. I was referring to flat as in lacking contrast. Your pictures will usually be flat on a cloudy day (and contrasty on a sunny day) so try bumping up the contrast a bit in whatever photo editing program you have.

That's true... but it's an excellent way to begin in photography. If you can eliminate color from your photos you'll learn how to make a good image without solely relying on color, which is a mistake that many beginners make.
