Give me the rundown on longboards...

I'm interested in getting a longboard. Probably something for mostly carving and something decently long and wide because i'm tall. Just tell me what I need to know and give some suggestions. Thanks!

ya, i think you'll get better results if you just type in longboard into the searchbar and read through some of those threads. in here, you're just gonna get a bunch of "repost" and "searchbar, noob" and shit like that

My Loaded Vanguard is an amazing all around board, I wouldn't want to ever spend that much again on a piece of wood though.

Which is a sad fact because they're so good for quick short transportation, and because I've been longboarding since 12 years old

Sometimes stock wheels are pretty shitty so you might want to buy some better ones..

when you are looking at wheels you must first look at the dimensons...for example mine are 76mm 75a

the number using the unit mm is the size of the wheel and the second number determines the softness of the wheel

(higher the number = more firm wheels=fast but not very smooth)

(lower the number=softer wheels=smoother ride but slower)

some suggestions are:

abec 11 gumballs

big zigs

Also, Harder wheels will slide out more easily when carving, ect.

I would go with Gumballs also, but if you're willing to drop the cash, get orangatang In Heats.

they are absolutly amazing. A carving dream.

theyre both the same board, except the scimitar has bigger wheel cutouts to accept bigger wheels. so if you are getting smaller wheels anyways, you might as well go for the M1 cus its gonna be cheaper. i have the scimitar with lime big zigs though and that combo is fuckin legiiiiit

I dont know why everyone is in love with cracked skulls and loaded boards. there are many other great companies out there such as landyatchz rayne kebbek and madrid. I have owned two landyatchz boards and there great and well priced. Rayne boards are great too although a little more expensive. if your a taller guy look into the demonseed as it is larger.

Wow this is exactly what I was going say down to the wheel choice. Well done.
Also scimitar has a couple extra pieces of wood around the trucks for stability, but I've ridden both and it doesn't make that much of a difference. Wheels make a big difference though.

hm, im not sure. i think 43 would be stiffer than 46 though so maybe that would be better for you? i dunno, wait for thenowhereman to post

oh i forgot, that depends, like if youre just really tall but not that heavy, then i think you would be better on a 46

ya i think you'll have more fun on the 46, but what helped me alot when i was buying mine, i emailed will at kracked skulls, and he answered all my questions pretty quickly. he's email is somewhere on the website, just shoot him an email asking him the pros and cons between the 2 sizes and whatever other question you might have.
