Girls and guys competing

my computer is retarded and wont let me quote, but ^^ ...haha im not saying it doesnt...i said horses are different cause they have minds of their own...

anyways i didnt mean to compare skiing to horseback riding i was just saying not all sports are seperated. so its good.
 
Have you ever watched professional girl skiers? There are exceptions of girls who ski hard and are really good, but there are insane amounts of am guys who can barely get flow from companies and are significantly better than pro chicks...
 
Well it would be good for motivation, but only a few girls would compete. the rest dont have enough drive to get better or compete on that level. I think that Girls should be entered into like intermediate categories for men's comps or something so they are atleast pushed. A girl shouldnt get money when she is doing tricks wayyy below even the novice categories in mens comps. Dont get me wrong, some girls are pushing it and are getting better, but the majority are doing the same shit every year. Ive been to comps where the same girl did a 360 over a 50ft jump the year before but only did a straight air because she wasnt competing against anyone else. Thats pathetic.

I think mostly its just a lack of drive. Girls in other sports like soccer and tennis can be good, why cant they be in skiing? Kaya was pushing the sport way beyond anything ive ever seen, she could compete with men in some of these comps
 
At some places too, especially smaller places there might be a couple girls who really shred, but there aren't enough to have a women's division of teh comp, so in taht case it would be better to have a girls/guys comp too.
 
actually riding takes a lot of strength to control a 1200 pound animal, and steer them over 3 ft jumps, they don't just run themselves around a course. riding is an olympic sport and men and women are on the team together, and women do just as well if not better than men.

also that video of "ninna" was sick! you kill it, i'm jealous

Hmmm sounds like it could be good but the judges would really need to be on it. The only way I could see it working out faily would be to dress everyone the same, spray paint skis etc and give them big numbers. I like jams where it seems like you're competeing against the guys but not really.
 
at the mount st. louis moonstone jib academy two girls made it into the final 15 . they were throwing switch 27 on 27 out on the box. they were keeping up for sure however these girls are on the ontario park and pipe team
 
not to be sexist or anything but me and my friends came up with a definition of a sport as anything that girls cant do as well as guys. So horseback riding and pool arent sports
 
When I first learned how to ski switch kinda well, I had trouble keeping my feet together turning right, which has been solved by more practice and it helps if you change shoulders, which she dosen't seem to want to do.
 
i tried at one comp, but they said they needed a girls category. next year i'll try at more comps if im allowed, gonna get my ass kicked. weeee
 
the problem is that almost no girls compete... so puttiing hem in a comp with guys will only help progress a few girls, rather than the majoity of the,

seriously you kill it harder than the majority of guys out there.

and my apologies if you are trying hard, i really don't know any of this for fact, all i know is I think you're already better than 99% of the female pros. and i know this sorta goes against the whole purpose of the thread. but whatever.

oh btw, while she is sketchy switch, when carving your feet should be about shoulder width apart anyway regular or switch, not together, however her feet apart is borderline reverse pizza
 
I believe in equality and all that stuff, but in general, dudes just dominate women at skiing. There will be girls who are better than some guys, but can you honestly say that women pro skiers are at the same level as guys? you cant. Like imagine if sarah burke was a guy. She would not be on the international teams of any company. maybe AM, but shewould not be filming with msp, or even qualifying for xgames finals or the like if she were a dude. I'm not saying that women will never be as good as guys at skiing, but right now, I don't see this happening.

ninna herself is without a doubt better at skiing than whoever you are. I dont think you realise what these girls are capable of.

sounds like a good concept to me, ninna you should just sign up in all of our categories and start a trend, i think youd prolly beat me in most slopestyles.
 
i think having girls and guys compete would be to hard because girls would be to intimidated but i deffinatley think girls should be givin better opertunities or make skiing more girly or im not sure of the word and how to explain it so theyll want to become better skiers and not be as afraid of the park

Show me one chick who can come close to a male pro skier. You can't. Guys just dominate girls at skiing. Like I've already said, there are girls who are better than alot of guys. But when it gets to the professional level, girls suck in comparison. I honestly can't bare to watch sarah burkes segments. Am I supposed be amazed because she's good FOR A GIRL.
 
i think its a great idea i really dont see why they seperate them anyway even thought at first i am sure guys would dominate but i am sure girls would step up to the plate
 
kya is not good for a girl... she is just good. It is actually a tragedy for womens freeskiing that she was injured b/c that girl is the key to womens progression. Remember why sarah burke learned to throw switch 9s? It was because kya was throwing them. Women just need one of two female athletes to step up and serve as inspiration. Freeskiing is a very gymnastic sport, women do not have to be so far behind men.

ps..... i bet mad bank that kya would be throwing doubles now if she didnt get hurt

i think its a good idea like starting with rail jams and stuff. i would totally be up for that. in general guys are more ballsy definitely but there are still girls that absolutely slay it and if they can beat guys they should be recognized for it...
 
i really dont think this is a good idea......i dont wanna hate on the girls......but the men are just so much better in every way at skiing and boarding and i think if there was combined competitions the judges would score it unevenly. If a girl did a 540 the judges would probably score it just as high as a man doing a 900. Just doesnt seem right to me.
