Girl Talk Petition

K this is probably a stupid idea and won't work but we can try. Everyone seems to love from 1:57 seconds to the end of the song too deep - girl talk. So if we make a huge thread of everyone saying make a full song that sounds like it with the sweet "california here we come" beat in the background they might do it. dont call it stupid if you dont like it just piss off and back out of the thread. so yea we can make the thread than find a way to email them the thread adress so they can check it out.

You probably planned out that "teh"...knowing you, hahahahaha

He was the one who did it first though, so yeah, I'll sign this. I love that segment.

+1

who cares if OTHER people dont like him, that one part of the song is sick. i support this in full. i love that part haha

Yawn, who the fuck CARES, he makes music that sounds good. Other DJs that don't like him, whatever, they can suck a nut. If it's so easy why don't you make that segment into a whole song?

On that note though, this is a stupid petition, because that segment would not work in a full song. Just wouldn't sound right. I'd like to see it extended but it isn't a full song by any stretch.

Girl talk played at my college. I was kind of intoxicated plus there were females everywhere so i really didnt care what was playing. He was nothin special but it was music that everyone can dance too. Definitely not something i would pay money for only reason i went was cause the ratio of girls to guys at my school is 7:1.... nuff said.

man i love living in a dark room with no windows no radio and most of all no tv cuz i can say "what the fuck is girl talk"

does anyone have the instrumental of this? or know where i can dload it i wanna mix it up with some acapella

PM ME PLEASE

uhh no? girl talk isn't even a DJ. DJing with turn tables and doing what he does is completely different and requires different skills. plus his music gets people pumped and thats what its all about

Dude what the hell? Go to NSG if you want to be a dick. Maybe I misphrased myself, and should have said, "He made it famous" but that doesn't mean I'm ignorant...well, I guess it does in the DJ world but I don't really care, so fuck.

way to overhyped...but if people are stoked on his shit..which i know a lot of people are....more power to them

dont hate. hes ridiculously creative and he puts so much time into his work and the result is really impressive

..how is that relevant then? and what does it matter if this kids spun a turntable, he likes the music.

I still find it interesting to listen to. Maybe if i was into DJ'ing i wouldnt respect him but thats not my point of view since I dont know anything about it. You can have your opinion but let others have theirs because were not all coming from the same viewpoint (us that don't know anything about DJ'ing and mixing)

im not riding any hype train. i heard about girl talk over a year

before he was exposed to ns and was stoked to hear my favorite mash up

by him used in an edit. i like lesser known stuff too, but stop trying to prove you only like music no

ones heard about because you think it makes you cooler

anddddd

^^thank you. try E-603 (does the same kind of thing as girl talk). You've probably already heard of him but if not give it a try you might like it, or hate it just the same

SAME HERE. Drives me nuts. Whats the point of having open threads if people cant express their opinions without penalties

yeah the comments earlier are all talk. a lot more work goes into girl talks stuff than some people give him credit for

i still dont really see why you challenged me with the whole have you ever spun a turntable before, dont look for arguments

you hated on mainstream shit thats popular, so i was assuming you were

one of those kids. all youve done in this thread is hate on shit.

jesus cant even have an opinion anymore

I've listened to a lot of DJ Shadow.. everyone was all over Endtroducing and I honestly was not that impressed. I'm not a mainstream music fan but Girl Talk is fun to listen to, his stuff... isn't. Stop acting so pretentious.

ironic there's been no mention made of z-trip, let alone A plus D, comar, quixotic, the list goes on...

in my opinion girl talk is just party music, nothing more and no less. good to listen to when a bunch of people are partying, fun to ski to, that's about it

d00d stop hating so hard. this isn't even about the thread anymore. Who cares if you don't like girl talk.

oh no! he doesn't use turntables! Therefore he isn't good at what he does! and no one should respect his music!

And telling someone they need music re-education is stupid. You have no idea what anyone here listens to. Unless every artist you listen to is unheard of, stop acting so pretentious.

LOLZ arguzing 0n teh 1nt3rnet

I like how when i originally downloaded Night Ripper some of my friends were listening to it with me, know my school has a girl talk addiction, enough with tha claiming

"too deep" is not his best song

its not that easy as it seems to make mashups like girl talk. you gotta make sure everything is beatmatched perfectly, no clashing, and transitions can be really hard to make. i remember reading somewhere that it took him about a full day to make one song on his album. spending 20 hours to make 2 minutes is not easy.

Not using turntables doesn't make your mix less "real" than a DJ Shadow mix ... a DJ is someone that plays with music. It doesn't matter if the DJ uses some vinyl, CDs, mp3s or anything else.

This video sums up pretty much my point on DJing ( for those who don't know, Serato is a program allowing you to mix mp3s with your cpu using special vinyls- timecode vinyls)

And about Girl Talk, what makes not like his stuff that much isn't the fact that he's not keepin it real or anything else. It's just that he doesn't not play original stuff, and tracks that aren't good IMO ( I mean, Avril Lavigne, Kelly Clarkson, etc. is some weak ass shit) in a way that I don't like (harsh transitions, only little samples). I understand though that playing well known tracks in a mix gets a party going: more people like listening to some Top 40 hits than obscure indie tracks. And yeah, don't forget that GT does a way better job than many club DJ's

While we're at it, if you wanna listen to some good mixing, listen to this mix by Soulwax(radio rip dating from 2005)

Alright guys, I'd hate to be the mediator but look - Allen, if you don't like the music, then fine, stop bitching at people because their tastes don't meet yours. You're taking it way too seriously. And to everyone else - you all took his bait. You all know he likes to argue!

Basically - no one was meaning to be n00bish or lame or pathetic or whatever in this thread. I like the music so I signed it. I don't care if Girl Talk is hated in the industry or whether it turns out he's actually awful. I like his music and that's my opinion. Personally I'd love to hear a whole mix with that riff in there. Again, just my thoughts and opinion

So sue me.

Girl talk has some intresting bits in it i like the first half of once again, but the music, in my opinion, is ruined by the fact that its mixed way to much, and is just a bit gimmicky to me. Also it really isnt amazing its really simple anyone could do it really, have a proper dj mess about for you and it will put it to shame.

However if you liked mixed hip-hop type sets check out DJ Spinbads Fabric Set, same sort of well known hip hop tracks mixed together that would appeal to people that like that thing.

Sure anybody can mix the songs girl talk uses to make his albums but a big part of girl talks success is that he has found those songs which go together so well. Any DJ/mixer whatever you want to call it IDK can mix songs together but girl talk has found some of the best songs which go together well and has carried it through the whole track. That is what makes his music so good IMO.
