who tf cares that topsheet lit asf i would not stop staring at a mf in the park with some optimus prime skis

Thanks! Ian is indeed goated. One of the most under rated skiers out there right now!

I found out about you guys through the sponsor giveaway that was probably the coolest thing I’ve seen a ski company do, also Ian Osby rides gilsons and he’s goated. Keep up the wicked work dudes you’re going up

Yes. They are officially licensed. That’s part of the reason our Limited Editions cost more.

Do you actually have liscensing for all the sports team top sheets? That seems like it would be very expensive.

For ones that may seem random. It’s because we have Hasbro Toys licensing.

All of those fall under Limited Edition graphics. While our lineup graphics each year are more cohesive.

Saw a dude riding a pair in an insta/Tik Tok edit yesterday and thought they looked pretty sick actually.

Just checked out your website and it seems like ya'll are pretty heavy in the license game. I actually really like SuperDry's clothing and the black/orange collab you did with them are sexy af. Would deff ride those skis. That said, some of the other ones are real fucking random. I know this is subjective but the GI Joe and Transformers ones are pretty fucking tough to look at and doesnt really make sense to me why these toys are slapped on some skis. (I do think you could make these things work, but it's kinda a miss rn.)

Overall I like most of the skis but I feel like ya'll are treacherously toeing the J-Skis line of making meme skis with pop culture references and candy-shop graphics. Maybe slim down the line a little bit and try to have more of a cohesive style?

This edit was better than level1s superunknown and I believe it featured your skis. This is the one thing I know about gilson.

Ahh the Monopoly skis are making more sense now too haha (I do like those ones).

Do you outreach to them to use their brands or do they reach out to you because they want to make a pair of skis. Genuinely curious about how this works and why you're working with Hasbro

Gilson, please make my year and make a series of Warhammer 40k skis. Believe me when I say, I WILL pay any amount of money you charge for Necron skis. (Let it. come true, please!!)

Been to your factory with a school field trip but I’m a quiet mf so I didn’t really say much.

Emailed y’all about doing a possible internship one of these next few summers and never got an email back which kinda blew.

would you guys let me come and build my own pair of skis, dimensions materials and all?

lmao if some guy emailed my company asking if he could come use my factory to make his own skis and call it an internship i wouldn't respond either

My bad, from now on we will refrain from trying to be involved in the community by asking for feedback. Probably will just delete our NS account too.

Lmao I love this. Actually do it tho

Collabs can go both ways, sometimes we reach out. Sometimes they do.

Colabs aren't my department. I can certainly pass on the interest though haha

Gilsons art goes super hard imo. As someone who’s trying to start a company and is constantly looking for ideas and inspiration, it’s super sick to see them pushing the conventional idea of what makes a, “good,” topsheet. I think they’re sick and like Gems said, if I saw a skier with Optimus Fucking Prime skis, I would 100% be asking the skier about them. [tag=267217]@GilsonSkis[/tag] you guys are crushing it!

Not a Warhammer guy myself, but I gotta admit the black and green colour scheme would be sick

I didn’t email about using the factory to make skis, emailed about just an internship. The making skis part was an idea cause I think the whole process of designing and making it a real thing would be super dope to learn

internships I’ve seen at places they sometimes are given projects and stuff

Props to reaching out and asking. Respect!

I don’t know much about Gilson, but I have to say even if one of your skis sounded perfect to me, I cannot get behind spending that much money for a ski with graphics I don’t like at all.

I’m not trying to be a dick whatsoever, just honest. Despite most of my threads being jokes, I did go to graphic design school and have a fucking good eye for this stuff. I currently work as a backyard/structural 3D designer, and have friends in the graphic design / art industry.

I think the problem with a lot of smaller action sport companies including gilson can be found in their graphics.

Often times these smaller companies rely on saying “oh I have a buddy that’s a good artist, we can use him” or “let’s have a art contest” or “I already know how to use photoshop, I’ll just make something myself”.

What these people don’t realize, is that an artist and a designer aren’t the same thing. Getting a professional to rebrand your company / put out actually good graphics would do wonders. Actually spending the money on someone good will get you bigger returns in the long run.

Vishnus? Good skis, they’re gaining traction even more so because they come out with cool topsheets. (Emmet is not a professional designer but he came up with an actually great style for his brand to follow)

on3p? Great skis, but again they have beautiful and clean graphics. If they looked like shit their popularity would definitely be lower.

If you want me to link you up with a designer then let me know!

I know some people. My hood friend

1003872.jpeg

does a lot of work with yes snowboards and is both an artist/designer.

The issue is the lack of brand image. Their topsheets are so different from each other that people can’t identify them / they’ll come off as cheap. Consistency in your brand image is key if you’re trying to market yourself better.

This is definitely something we struggle with. We have had these conversations. We want to work with individual artists and do unique limited edition graphics, but like you said maintaining consistent brand image is tough with that. Finding a balance is tricky.

Only thing I know ab gilson is you sponsor a guy called doobs who listens to techno on New York roof tops and rides sticks 10 cm too small for himself

also, topsheets are total hit or miss, but i do fucks w the more simplistic ones

I like all the gilson top sheets and lots of the skiers that ride for Gilson. I have no idea how they ride but if [tag=267217]@GilsonSkis[/tag] has demo models at mt hood ill be sure to check them out

We don’t have anyone out at hood right now. Do you come through Colorado at all?

Might be there next year, but through the windells camp at hood I get get unlimited free ski rentals. Whereas at Colorado, ski rentals would be be an extra expense since most likely, I would have the proper skis for the terrain. If that was not the case I would probably rent skis however it wouldn’t be a fair comparison as there is never pow any my home hill and I almost exclusively ski groomers.

hahaha My brother and I are actually 3 years apart and i'm the youngest and I do ride for Gilson.

Are u guys ever gonna make a ski in the 184-189 range cuz after watching the roofbox review I lowkey want a pair next season

Eventually! We've been running out of space in our shop for molds and all the parts for different sizes to be honest. Our odysseys come in 183 currently! And the fusions in 181, I came from a riding a 185 before those. And they don't feel much noticeably shorter

I just found this brand thru a friend's recommendation and was thinking about picking up a pair of fusions. From what I read, they seem like they are built like line chronics. also, that 5-year warranty stuff is sick.

Would love to see you on a pair! ?

I think Gilson is pretty low on the list of shitty ski brand names

Its actually a snowboard company thats trying to engage in the NS market, they give me the same vibes as the fucking Dew tour street style announcer that was retarded.
