Ghost/Scary Experiences Thread

i was in my friends(who's family is very religous) basement (which is also his brothers[who is the most religous of the family] room) with him and his sister and we pulled out a few candles and a ouji board and picked up on something that said it was his gaurdian angel or something and said of an evil entity lurking in his house. ouji board are creepy shit

This isnt ghost but it is creepy as fuck and also it didnt happen to me it happened to my friends aunt.
So the aunt, who is a teacher, decided she was going to go on a 1 day camping/ hiking trip in the catskills. she hiked and walked the whole day. IMPORTANT: the whole day she never saw anything or heard anyone. she decided to pack it in for the night in a clearing. she had a small 1 person tent. the whole day she had been taking pictures. she fell asleep with her camera next to her in the tent, SHE IS ALONE. the next day she drove home and got her pictures developed. she was looking through them but at the end of the pile, there were pictures of her sleeping in the tent. how fucking creepy is that. i would be so creeped.

One time, a couple years back, I was at a soccer camp in the summer. The deal was you played soccer all day and shit and conditioned and then chilled at night.

Anyways so one night the whole camp played a big game of hide and go seek/go to my boneyard. I kinda forget which game.

We played in a big forest and it was getting late. Everyone knows forests are scary at night, so we were a little on edge. Anyways, it was towards the end of the game and we were looking for a couple other kids when we found this abandoned railroad.

Thinking it was part of the camp, we followed it down for about 10 minutes, but we soon figured we were far out of camp grounds and decided to head back.

What's wierd is that by this time, a wierd fog was hanging over the railroad, but no where else in the forest. We were peering down the railroad before turning around when I saw it.

It looked as if very far down the railroad, maybe 500 feet, two big red eyes seemed to materialize out of nowhere. What's wierd as that even though it was so far down the eyes were still huge. I pointed it out to my friends and they all saw it as well.

By this time everyone was super freaked out and we were slowly backing up, when the eyes seemed to start moving forward. They got bigger and it almost seemed as if whatever it was was trotting towards us.

At this point, we all hauled ass back the way we came screaming our asses off into the campgrounds. When we looked back, we didn't see the eyes, but we saw an outline of something retreating back down the railroad.

one of the most scariest things of my life.

yo, that sounds scary as fuck... but has anyone ever stood up to something like that?
honestly it would be a group vs 1 kick its ass.

and i bet it was an animal then it heard ur screaming and peaced.

fuck, i wanna contribute to this thread but i rly dont have much.

On Halloween this year I was riding my bike back to my house through some trails in a forest area. It was around 9 or 10 and it was pretty dark with all the trees so I couldn't really see much. I was just cruising along when I heard a bunch of yelps about 200 ft away. It sounded like a young girl or child so I started freaking out thinking a child was being raped or something. The yelps died down and about 30 seconds later I heard the loudest, most disturbing, blood curdling scream about 50 ft away. It sounded like someone was being killed, it was awful. I booked it the rest of the way home but the screams would still occur every 30 seconds. I told my parents and they called the cops, turns out it was either a fox or a bobcat because they have had similar calls and investigated and that's what it was. It scared the shut out of me still though cuz it was on Halloween and there's a bunch of creeps around where I live, so I just thought the worst.

about a year ago a friend and i were walking back home from a friends house. my house was about 4 miles away and it was midnight in a very wooded/creepy area. but being the kids we were, we thought nothing of it. after about a mile or so of walking down a dark, dirt road we heard a truck approaching. i looked back to see it was a large truck that looked like it had just returned from muddin. we both knew it was hicks being that we had a large population of them in our town(Sandpoint). they drove past us going about 40 down this narrow dirt road, i think there were 3 of them in the truck. once it past my friend and i had a good laugh and watched them vanish into the trees. but 5 minutes later we heard the same truck coming back, i had a feeling something was wrong because i knew hicks had a reputation for harassment. as the truck rounded the corner about 100ft in front of it we a guy stick a gun out the window and fire at us. immediately my friend and i jumped off the road and took cover behind a tree. we heard them yelling as they fired more shots in our direction. i could hear the bullets bouncing of the ground around us. and as soon as the truck came it disappeared. with both of us not having our phones on us to call the police, we bolted through the woods and for what seemed like forever we finally made it too my house. the scariest night of my life for sure

Fuck these stories are giving me the chills, and the story about the knife in the bed frame, god damn that's probably the scariest shit i've ever heard

The scariest stories are the ones with homeless people or shady people just lurking. FUCK!

I have a really deep ghost story which I will share later when I am not working. Btw, wowking for me involces the graveyard shift all alone in a hotel here in Squaw Valley. Best place to be reading these? I wouldn't say so.

couple of pretty crazy ones.
1. My grandma died a couple years back of cancer, anyways my grandfather remarried almost immediately to a girl like 20 years younger than him and gave her most of my grandmas stuff (yes we are not fond of him). One of the only things that we were able to get from him was my grandmas old music box. We had a big family reunion a couple of weeks after her death and a bunch of family members (aunts, uncles, my parents, sister, cousins) were all sitting in our living room reminiscing about my grandma and talking about all the good times we had with her (really happy atmosphere, everyone was having a blast sharing stories). My grandmas music box was in a glass closed in case that we keep some of our decorations and stuff in and right in the middle of some of our conversations the music box started playing, and played for a good 5 mins before it stopped. there was no way anyone touched it as it was in plain sight and everyone was sitting around with the casing closed. This left me with SUCH an amazing feeling of hope and was really an awesome experience for our family.
2. One that left me with a not so good feeling.. When I was in 7th grade there was a kid from my school ryan that was really little more than an acquaintance to me. My parents were out of town and he was having a birthday party one night so my parents asked him if I could just stay over at his house for the night. Well the birthday party included us going to a haunted trail and on the way there his parents were telling us stories of the many suicides that happened in his house (I thought they were just trying to scare us for the haunted trail). Anyways the haunted trail is done and everyone else leaves and Ryan and I return to his house. Its this civil-war era house in downtown Miamisburg Ohio that is really slender and tall. We hung out for a bit before bed and they brought me down to the basement where ryans room was. Ryan was trusted to be by himself often because he was really old for a 7th grader (I think he failed a couple grades) and was oftentimes looking after his baby brother when his parents went out and so he had a baby monitor in his room. Anyways we were in the basement of his 3 story house getting ready for bed when all of the sudden we hear the most insane screaming coming out of the baby monitor, it almost sounded demonic the baby was crying so fiercly. We both run up the 3 stories of stairs and run into his baby brothers room where the baby monitor was unplugged from the wall (off) and his brother was completely sound asleep. THE scariest moment of my life and I hate this thread for making me think about it.. After this incident he began to explain that things like that had happened on a regular occurence since they moved into the house. About a month later Ryan moved to Indiana and noone ever heard from him again.

Not so much scary, more weird/funny...

I woke up at about 3am this morning to find my boxershorts around my knees...my wife claims to have no knowledge.

You think thats weird? I once went to bed wearing PJ's and boxers and woke up wearing no PJ's and different boxers.

my parents got divorced like 3 years ago, and right after my dad lived in his parents house for a few weeks before he got stuff figured out. its a huge ass house at the end of an old dirt farm road, with like 12 acres and a long gravel driveway. i slept in this old bedroom with like old fashioned chairs and dolls and shit that nobody ever goes in and its in the basement level, and theres a heater and fridge and all the stuff that some basements have. outside of the room is like a long hallway with tool rooms and the heater and air conditioning or whatever in it, and at the end is the fridge and the stairs up. i once heard somebod comin down the stairs at like midnight, and i assumbed it was like my dad gettin a beer or a soda or something. the light went on and i heard this clang, and although i was pretty scared i didnt mind it and i went out and nothin was there. so i went to grab a fresca from the fridge all the way down the hallway, and when i get hear another loud ass clang and i look back down the hall and see a hammer bouncing on the concrete that fell off the working bench's tool wall. i was poopin right now, so i go up stairs and everythings off and my dads asleep. when i get the balls to go back down, i step over the hammer and get into my room. i leave the door open because the only light was a window anyway. i got halway under the covers and the light turned off and the old furnace starts humming loud and i cant hear shit. so i was fucking dying and i just curled up and took way to long to get to sleep, and in the morning i get up and my closet door is wide open with a bunch of old sweaters and books in it. i dress pretty quickly and get upstairs, and after i eat breakfast i think about the night and remember the hammer. i went down and it was back up on the tool board like it had been. i was so happy when my dad got a house after that

when i was about 10 or 11, i was sleeping over at my friend's house. her house was built on an old horse farm that my mother attended, i don't know if that has anything to do with anything or whatever. but we're sleeping in a back room and i'm on the bottom bunk. it's just me, her, and her mom in the house. so in the middle of the night, like 3 am, i wake up because there is this bright light shining through my window and right into my eyes. so i stare out the window from my bunk for a few seconds and i can't see shit except bright light. i'm scared cause nobody's supposed to be out there and the house is kind of secluded, so i get down on the floor and crawl over to the window. i peek my head out and there is just this light, like really bright orb of light on the left side of her backyard. i look at it for a few seconds and im just like what the fuck is that? it starts moving in a steady direction to the right, across the backyard, and then it stops. it suddenly starts moving to the base of the house, RIGHT below this window where i'm watching out, and it shines right up at me. i freak the fuck out and fall back and scream. and im kind of tearing up as i write this. i went and woke up her mom and she told me to stop imagining things and she wouldn't take me home. now, an amount of years later, it still scares the shit out of me.

as for anything else, i just get really weird disturbing dreams every once in a while. i had recurring nightmares of this mothman like creature, tall as fuck, dark brown, with black eyes and it was skinny and had wings, standing over my bed. i also had a series of nightmares of men walking through my house in hazmat suits, my dog's head getting cut off, and this weird fucking dream i'll explain shortly: staying in this hostel type thing, there was this weird chick, and i went into her room, she was on the bed and she had newspaper clippings everywhere, it was dark except for a candle, and she's stabbing things into this purple big doll. she sees me and screams, a blood curdling scream, and runs towards me and stabs my kneck with a pair of scissors. i go to this therapy group type thing in this huuuge tall ceilinged room, and my neck is still bleeding, and everyone is wearing masks. i've had some really fucking awful dreams and a few hallucination type things, i suspect its connected with my depression.

sorry long post... and i honestly dont know if ive posted the first one before

I'm wracking my brain from something to share but these are the best ones I can think of:

1. I was about 12 and my younger sister and our two friends, sisters and the same ages as us, were at their cottage on Lake Huron. It was about 9 at night and we decided to go for a skinny dip (do not judge haha, they're like our sisters and we were young) so obviously were nervous and it's dark and on lake Huron there are huge sandy beaches. We leave our towels near the water and splash around for a bit, soon up on the ridge (not far away, it's like a mini escarpment to get down to the beach) away from the houses we see a light blinking on and off, we assume it's fireflies and don't really worry then the light starts to get really really bright like a strobe light lighting up the whole forest, and there's no possible explanation for this. We booked the fuck out of the water and grabbed our towels...and then there's about a hundred stairs to climb I have never ran so fast up them. Then again when you are a young kid surrounded by other young girls your imagination runs wild and things are a LOT scarier than you think.

2. My room used to be our old "playroom" where we kept toys, my house is about 90 years old so it was a really old room, and around the perimeter there were empty storage tunnels that were accessed by four different tiny doors (we used to crawl in them and get really dusty) anyways when I got too old to share a room with my sister, we renovated the play room and sealed up the tunnels (one is a built-in book case, one is my built in drawers, one was covered with plaster right behind my bed and then there's only one left because that's the only way to access the upstairs furnace. Regularly I hear tapping, loudly from behind my bed and the one door that's left seems to swell open and closed. I've kinda been accustomed to it but it scares the shit out of me when I'm the only one awake and it sounds like something is moving around in the walls.

Nothing like some other ones in this thread, I just want to thank ns for scarring me with your horror stories.

it couldv been a red fox. theyre calls are literally terrifying, I see how you could mistake it for someone getting killed. theres a bunch near where I live and iv heard at night some spooky shit

So this is hands down the scariest/most fucked up thing I've ever had to go through. It was days long too. Absolutely awful. It'll be a long read, but there's a lot that happened.

So I moved into my apartment on the first floor. Ever since I had moved in I always heard people moving stuff upstairs in the apartment above me really late at night, like they were rearranging everything. I lived in an apartment complex in Allston MA, where it's all young college kids, so I figured they were just bored and decided to move their shit a lot. It would always start around 10pm and I would usually fall asleep at around 12 and they would still be doing it. This went on for months.

Now fast forward a few months, and around 7pm both my roommate and I were home and we heard them moving stuff again. We thought it was kind of strange since it was so early, so we got quiet and tried to listen. A few minutes later we hear voices screaming. It was two females, both speaking some asian language. They were definitely fighting, and this was the first time we ever heard someone talking up there. Then there was a huge crash like someone knocked over a bookcase or something, and a wicked loud scream. Then we hear one girl run across the apartment, open the door, and sprint down the stairs going outside. We watched her run out of the front door and it looked as though she was running from a person with a gun. I've never seen anyone so scared. She just took off down the street. Then we hear the second woman run across the apartment and run out the door chasing after her. We were like, well that was fucked up. But kind of ignored it.

The next night we didn't hear them moving anything and I went to bed around 10pm. Two hours later I get woken up by people stomping in the apartment above me. It sounded like a dozen or so people were marching and stomping. Then I started hearing all these male voices, chanting. They were marching and chanting in some arabic language. I woke my roommate up and we just sat there listening. It was so fucked because mind you, until the night before when the girls were screaming in some asian language, we had never heard a voice come from this apartment. So we decide to look up online if there is any sort of holiday going on to see if this was just some sort of ritual or something, ya know. But there wasn't, so we were like what the fuck do we do? We decided to go up the stairs and try and see what apartment number it was incase we had to call the cops, but when we got near their apartment the floor creaked wicked loud (I swear out of a fucking movie), they stopped chanting, and I was like GO GO GO! So we ran down back to our apartment and sat in my room and listened. We heard some talking going on in the language still, but then they stopped. So we were like, "well, I guess they're done?" And then they started coming down the stairs and leaving the building. And we were right, it was about a dozen middle eastern guys. Weird.

So this is where it starts getting fucked. Next night around the same time the chanting wakes up me again. Of course, I go wake up my roommate and we sit in my room listening. More chanting, stomping, etc. And that goes on for a while. Then we start hearing this woman screaming. The absolute worst blood-curdling screams I've ever heard in my life. No scream in movies even compares to it. It was like she was being tortured, and the chanting continued on. My roommate and I were like alright this is fucked, we gotta call the cops. As we're about to call the cops we hear the ONLY thing we've heard in english the entire time. The men started all screaming "YOURE A SINNER YOURE A SINNER YOURE A SINNER" over and over again, while this woman's screams get louder and louder. Of course we now call the cops and I tell them I don't want them to know that we were the ones that called because I don't know what the fuck these guys are doing to her up there. Once the cops get there (about 45 minutes later) they go upstairs and we hear them talking to the guys. We could tell that they just opened the door and didn't actually go in the apartment, and they spent literally 30 seconds up there. Then they come down, knock on our door, and tell us that there's a woman up there really sick and that we "probably heard her just moaning because of being sick" and i was like "no fuck that she was being fucking tortured, you HAVE to do something!" and the cops were like, "well we can't really do anything.. they won't let us in" and just left. They didn't do fucking anything! They even laughed at me at one point because of how scared I was. After that, the chanting and everything stopped, and same as the night before, they just all left. The same guys as the night before.

Following night, we didn't hear any men. All we heard (starting around the same time) was the woman screaming. It was even worse than the night before. And it sounded like she was being chased and being thrown to the ground. Then it sounded like she was violently convulsing on the floor, all the while screaming bloody murder. It was the most awful thing I had ever heard in my life. You know when you hear of people getting sick at gory movies? That's never happened to me before, but I felt like I was going to throw up from the sounds I was hearing. I even feel sick to my stomach typing this out. I could not take it anymore, and neither could my roommate, and we knew the cops wouldn't do anything, so we left the apartment that night and stayed with a friend. As we were scrambling to pack our shit to go, the woman screamed and it was so wrenching that I even dropped my lens that I was holding and broke it. I broke my 24-105, it wouldn't go back on the camera. It was so so bad. Once we got to my friends I was in hysterics at my friends house unable to sleep, and my roommate was in the bathroom waiting to throw up still.

During school that day we told our class what happened. This woman who is in our class told us that she works for this organization that helps asian women get out of abusive relationships, and she told us that this sounds exactly what it is. The only weird part was the middle eastern guys and their chanting. She told us that a lot of asian women are severely abused here in America, but you only ever hear the woman scream and never men because the men know that it's not okay here in America, so they keep quiet. And usually the women will get really really sick, and the men won't let them go to a hospital, but rather let them die a slow death or kill them. So during lunch I called the organization and they got a case started, and said to keep calling them if anything else happens.

The next night we decide we're going to the apartment, and if the woman is still screaming we're calling the cops, the super, anyone who would go up there and figure out what was going on. So late at night, we hear some screaming again, but it wasn't as loud as the nights before. It only went on for a little bit and then we heard (what I'm convinced) were gunshots. It was like 3 or 4 shots and then no more screaming. No more anything. Looking back, I should have called the cops, but I was just so shocked and scared that I just laid there pretty much all night. I figured she had to be dead, and from what I was hearing for the past couple days, I think it was for the better.

After that we never heard any screaming, and not even any moving around of furniture. It was just silent up there. I talked to the woman who was part of the organization and she said that he probably did kill her, and that he left since he knew that other people knew that things were happening in the apartment. Definitely the most fucked up thing I've ever had to go through. It's such a horrible position to be both scared for your own life (we were terrified of the people up there), scared for someone else's, but feeling so helpless. I don't really know how to describe it.

Yes, foxes make the most terrifying blood curdling scream that I have ever heard. We hear them all the time in late summer once the sun goes down. It scared the shit out of us before we found out what it was. Still gives me the shivers just thinking about it.
