Gh3 Issue?

Ok so this weekend i shot a wedding on my gh3. I shot in the mov 72mbs a second at 24p. When i play the footage on the computer (i have tried playing it in quicktime, vlc, and premier pro cs6) it is very jerky almost like motion blur. I had a shutter speed of 60. Is this an issue with the gh3 sensor? or is my computer messing up?

Sounds like your computer.

Aldo, why the fuck are you shooting 72mbps? Aren't there lower bit rate options? Its still avchd so going above 30mbps is absolutely pointless.

The gh3 has a new mov codec correct? Or is it the mov still avchd? And i had never shot the 72mbs i usaly shoot 50 but i thought hey i will try it out!

Avchd is a compressed codec, adding a higher bit rate (ie using ML to boost bit rate is poitless)

Sorry mobile..

But its so compressed adding more data to it doesn't change anything.

OP, I thought the GH3 was avchd you own it you tell me

How's your computer doing for free space? Sometimes when your computer gets filled up with other crap it makes playback jerky...you can choose to shoot avchd or mov

It might also be that since you shot in such a high bit rate your computer is struggling to playback the files smoothly. Usually the problem is RAM on your computer I think.

I am running an i mac with quad-core proessesor and 12 gigs of ram. But when i put it into premier and export it still looks the same. Even if i export at lower file size.

I agree with everyone else here that it could be your computer, but there's a stupidly low possibility your card wasn't keeping up? But I doubt you would shoot at 72Mbps with a card that couldn't keep up...

upload the raw file somewhere, I'll see if I can get it to export and work, maybe figure out if it's the card/writing or something.

The card doesn't matter as soon as its on the computer. If the card was too slow it wouldn't have recorded.

That being said, 72mpbs is only 8MBps and even lower end cards are 15MBps and it sounds like he has a 95MBps card anyway
