Getting rid of Knobs on Urban

So me and my friends found a pretty sick dfd in our town behind a Trader Joe's. Run in is perfect, its not too steep, and grass on either side makes it definitely hittable.

The only problem is that there are these knobs at the end of it, which look really easy to catch on especially considering how fats we will be going by the end.
So my question is what can we do about this knob? Is it worth trying to saw it off, or should we just try to hop over it at the end?
Any suggestions are appreciated

you'd more than likely be off the rail by then, but you could always use a grinder or sawzall just in case. sick rail by the way. looks super fun

I would just try and remember that its there but you can probably saw that off by hand with the proper blade from Home Depot and a saw.

considering the cops might kick you out for trespassing, i dont think you'll want to get property damage stuck on your tab as well. looks to be a quality dfd, just try to hop it early if you think you can.

Check to see if there is any tack weilds on the cap to the rail and if not bring an ajustable wrenck or something like that

It looks like the cap was originally screwed on, but years of paint and rust have locked it on. I'll see if a heavy duty wrench will do the job

Just hop that shit, it doesn't look like it is too big of a deal. As was said before you might get in trouble if you get caught.

ya crowbar wont work unless you have some special crowbar skills. If the wrnch ddosent work just file it down and hop it.

It's just a pipe cap. As that guy mentioned, it should just unscrew unless there's a little spot weld on it somewhere. Even then if you wail on it you might just be able to break the weld.
No need to saw it off, just soak the hell out of it with WD40 then get a lock-on monkey wrench (pipe wrench if you like) and smash the wrench with a hammer. If you can't get a good grip on it, file a flat section on each side of the cap.If you wanna make it easy, go do it in the middle of the night now, before it gets cold and snowy, then just finger-tight it when you put it back on. Remember that when it gets cold the threads will contract slightly and make it tighter than a nun's nasty.
Protip: If you have a little propane torch, give it hell with that for about a minute, just don't mix that with WD40 unless you have the workshop non-flammable stuff.

i think it'd be MUCH easier to just hop it. going to the effort of sawing it off and possibly getting caught wouldn't be worth it, and seeing as how that's on a downslope you'll be able to hop over it really easily. if there were a few knobs like that ON the rail then there'd be a problem, but you could definitely hop over that

hop it, or if you really want to, get a saw or something, it's what skaters do to kinks at the end of rails

start with hand tools, pipe wrench looks like it will do for you. sometimes you can use two vice grips to take off skate stoppers and bolts, put them back on to stop others and hide your tracks. if that dont werk, go with a hack saw and do it by hand. if your lazy and noise is ok, bring your sawzall. my personal favorite is my 18 volt dewalt angle grinder. that bitch will make any rail accessible in seconds.

sorry, hadnt read

first take a mini sledge, hit it a few times to loosen it up

then put on the pipe wrench and then put a cheater pipe on and crank it off

(cheater pipe just being a pipe that goes on the pipe wrench lengthening it and giving you more leverage

have your session

put the cap back on

leave

just hop it

BUT if you decide to alter it, do it at least a few nights before you go to hit it. ideally you go there with a wrench or whatever and "fix" it, then waay later come back and hit it and the two events arent necessarily linked

Dress up like a construction worker when you do it. Orange vest, cones, everything. Believe me it will save you a lot of grief and if people give you shit just say the city sent you to do it, and that if they have problems they should take it up with them.

i agree with the crowbar method, and if for some reason it doesnt work out, kick it off with your ski boot. but only a full tilt ski boot....

PLUS after hopping over it and skiing off in the afterbang position, your camera man can zoom up to the knob to show Newschoolers your superior skiing ability...which will gain you "cred" in the online community.

Depends if they're welded on or screwed on or press fitted... but generally you're pretty screwed since however it's on the combination of rust+paint will make it damn near impossible to get off.
Solution for the brave: Take cones, caution tape, orange overalls, hard hats, a generator and your favourite angle grinder and go to town on that bish in the middle of a workday. If you look like you're meant to be there, not some kids smashing a rail with a crowbar, nobody will ask any questions.
