Getting Pow Skis

So most of you know me, but im 5'6 122, im 15 and am looking at some new pow skis. Ive gone to evo and talked to the guys and shalbot, and they suggested me 179 Obsetheds and 183 Bent Chetlers, but are leaning towards Obsetheds as they arent as big as the Bent Chetlers. Ive also looked at the Surface New Lifes, not to mention the Anthony B top sheets are sick. I want something that is very playful, will shred deep stuff, pillow lines and will be decent on BC Booters.

175 Armada JJ, 162 or 172 Line Sir Francis Bacon, 174 Moment Bibby Pro, 172 4FRNT CRJ

I would either get the JJ or the Bibby's but thats just me

Be careful with the obsetheds, I have them and the top sheets chip like a motherfucker. Looking back on it I would have gotten a different ski just because they aren't as durable as they should be. Fun skis though.

Yeah my brother has 08 obsetheds an in the first week he had them the topsheet peeled off 2 inches into the ski in multiple spots and had to take em in to get them epoxed and shaved down

i haven't myself but my friend has a pair and he loves them, they're his POW skis so i wouldn't use as your only ski but they aren't super soft and can some wat hold up on hard pack overall pretty sick ski

try hellbents in 179 definately fits your description, extremely playful. or i think evo still has a pair of the mcconkey LE pontoons pretty much same as hellbents but harder to land stuff switch, but their shape makes them really good for tight trees and chutes so its a bit more verisatile, i have me some of those, very fancy cant wait to ride em. other than that i know the obsetheds rip, more of a big mountain ski but has sick float to, and i hear good stuff about the bentchetlers.id say for pow skis try to stay away from any underground companys, i kno support the industry and stuff but making the perfect pow ski takes tons of practice and lots of minds behind the scenes to do it. some underground companys can pull it off like on3p, but u should play it safe. just my opinion. hope this helped.

Do you have any idea what your talking about?

Hellbents and pontoons are pretty much the same??? totally different skis.

And I don't know what you would consider underground, but ON3P, praxis, dps, moment, pmgear etc. all make great pow skis.

yes i do know what im talking about. and by underground i mean underground. none of the companys you listed i would consider to be underground except for pmgear and maybe praxis.

very playful, will shred deep stuff, pillow lines and will be decent on BC Booters.
i really like my EPs for the deep stuff, pillows, and they are very playful...almost circus-y
they just aren't so great in anything less than 5 inches of fresh

you are completely wrong. Pontoons = Hellbents? Maybe they are both soft rockered ski's but they ski differently.

if you think that hellbents and pontoons are pretty much the same, then you don't know what your talking about, sorry to burst your bubble. Maybe if you said hellbents and EP pro's are pretty much the same, but not hellbents and pontoons, they are for totally different things.

What would you consider underground? Iggneous, wagner, folsom, icelantic, whats underground? if its really underground chances OP has never even heard of it or is considering buying a ski from them.

Obsethed are dope skis, I got to take a couple runs on some 189s up in whistler, make me want them bad. But, there is stuff that like a hellbent or bentchetler will do that you can't do that well on Obsetheds. For example, nollieing or buttering or riding switch in pow. You just gotta decide whether you want to have a soft ski that you can play around with, or a bomber that handle you mobbing with ease.

If you pick a pow ski at random chances are you will choose something that people consider good or are "stoked on"~

im soooo against k2 as well. shit is soooo wack. you kids are clowns. k2 is dope as fuck. im sure if your 5' 6" 120 most any medium sized pow ski will work. kids these days so picky about their skis. should see the sticks i been rockin the past three seasons. then say k2 sucks.

why? because i'm a k2 fan??i guess seth morrison doesnt know what makes a good ski either...or pep, or sammy, or shane (r.i.p)...hmmm

K2 makes sick skis, its just they have durability issues. That being said, I haven't ridden anything besides K2s so I cant exactly compare how other skis hold up against them in that department. But I feel like the top sheets could chip and divot less with some of the other brands.

One Lifes perform amazingly on hardpack. I wish they were a bit wider though. I wouldn't want New Lifes, I think symmetrical skis are stupid, and the tiny bit of camber on OLs makes them perform great all around.

OP, it's all preferance, honestly this thread won't get you that far since there's a ton of people who've ridden 1 pow ski and will tell you it's the best in the world.

Soft skis like obsethed get thrown around a lot in our thick snow. I think chetlers would be a good choice, you're deffinitely big enough for them, they ski as short as you need them to. Much better than JJs in our conditions IMO(idk where i would want JJs over chetlers though). I'm considering swapping out my 189 One Lifes for the 191(?) chetlers after this season just because the 183s are so fun, just too short for me(6'2" and 180 when I'm not too lazy).

i have some skullcandy live lifes from this year, and they are fucking sick. im getting some new lifes because the live lifes are 191 so im getting the new life in 184. new lifes are so ill though. my roommate has them and they look so fun. love that they are symmetrical

yo aaron--honestly new lifes sound like what you want. i skiied 1 1/2 ft of pow at baker last saturday on them, they are so light, floaty and playful. i am also 5'8 130 lbs so barely bigger than you. do it haha

not sure what youre talking about, k2's are very durable. just really heavy which sucks. if your topsheets are getting chipped up learn how to ski...

hey i just got my one lifes. They r soooo sick!!!!!!!! Soo much rocker. These seem like a good bc jump skis. They have camber 2 which would help in hardpack

Im pretty set on them, im going to demo JJ's and New Lifes from evo soon, i have break thursday-sunday so im hoping to head to baker, so let me know if youll be up there, or crystal and plan on skiing both and deciding on that, but im leaning towards the New lifes. Shalbot showed me a pair of the anthony b 174 new lifes and they were really sick. looking forward to skiing with you this season!

tried out my one lifes at baker on saturday, they were so sick

they shred the groomers so much better than i thought they would and they performed admirably in the pow.

i got them as my pow/allmountian ski

hey nick, were you the one i saw at baker also riding one lifes?

^^aaron, for sure dude, i got a snoqualmie pass so i youre gonna be riding there this season we'll get some turns for sure.
^and no, i was at baker both days this weekend but riding white topsheet new life's

So I have jjs and love them! So good in everything. If you find a pair get them. I also got some anthony b new lifes this year and I am soooo stoked to ski those. either the 175 jjs or new lifes or one lifes I would say.

i would get the jjs, new lifes, one lifes or chopsticks for something stiffer. ive got the chopsticks and they are so much fun. my brothers got new lifes and he says they are sick. and a firends has tried the one lifes and he says they are amazing for pow days. but if your looking for a ski only of deep pow days get one of these. something more just like if theres deep crud and little new snow get the jjs. they will handle better on the crud and little snow then any fatter more rockerd ski
